PRACTICE AREA DESCRIPTION

Group Services provides support to the business and covers Finance, HR, Business Development, IT, Marketing and Office Management. It consists of a team of valuable experts who provide trustworthy solutions to complex and everyday challenges. We are dedicated to accuracy and reliability and to work with each Practice Area, like interconnected cogs and flywheels, to build a trusted system.

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Financial Controller to supervise our organisation’s financial operations and ensure sound financial controls. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of financial regulations, and a strategic mindset to contribute to the company’s overall financial success

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets and management dashboards
• Be able to perform a consolidation of financial statement for legal entities including foreign companies
• Monitor budget variances and work with teams to address discrepancies and align with financial goals.
• Supervise day-to-day accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger maintenance.
• Maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Ensure compliance with accounting principles, standards, and regulations, including supervising timely and accurate submissions of tax returns.
• Manage financial audits and liaise with external auditors to ensure a smooth audit process.
• Coordinate with relevant teams to streamline financial processes and drive efficiency.
• Manage and mentor the financial accounting team, providing guidance and fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
• Foster professional growth through training, performance evaluations, and skills development

You are likely to have:

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field (Master’s degree or CA(SA) designation preferred).
• Proven experience as a Financial Controller or similar role.
• 2+ years post article experience
• In-depth knowledge of financial regulations, accounting principles, and financial reporting standards.
• Strong proficiency in financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.
• In-depth knowledge of month/end and year-end processes.
• Independent self-starter.
• Experience with financial software and ERP systems; advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Detail-oriented mindset with exceptional organisational skills.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Collaborate, delegate and work well under pressure.
• Ability to manage a team
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic business environment
