Group Head of Debt Capital Markets
Location: Leeds, Thorpe Park, Hybrid.

As the Group Head of Debt Capital Markets, you will be responsible for managing and executing the company’s debt capital markets activities. Your primary focus will be on optimizing funding strategies, managing debt issuance, and maintaining relationships with financial institutions and investors. This role requires strong analytical, financial, and communication skills, as well as a deep understanding of debt capital markets. Reporting to the Group Treasurer, this role will also help shape the balance sheet from a liquidity and leverage perspective with significant input into the preparation of funding plan and connection in to the Group ExCo.
Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

Debt Capital Markets Strategy:

  • Develop and implement the company’s debt capital markets strategy, in alignment with the overall treasury and financial objectives.
  • Analyse market conditions and trends to identify optimal funding opportunities and manage associated risks.
  • Collaborate with senior management to determine funding requirements and establish appropriate debt structures.

Debt Issuance and Investor Relations:

  • Lead and manage the process of debt issuance, including conducting due diligence, preparing offering memorandums, and negotiating terms and conditions.
  • Maintain relationships with financial institutions, rating agencies, and investors to ensure access to diverse funding sources and favourable terms.
  • Monitor debt markets, and regulatory changes to assess potential impacts on the company’s debt securities.

Financial Analysis and Reporting:

  • Conduct financial analysis to assess the impact of debt capital market activities on the company’s financial position and capital structure.
  • Prepare financial models, projections, and reports to support decision-making related to debt issuance and refinancing.
  • Be responsible for the maintenance of existing funding structures, including the preparation of securitisation reporting.
  • Assist the Group Treasurer in funding, liquidity and leverage planning, alongside Group ALCo and other governance reporting.
  • Collaborate with the finance team to ensure accurate and timely reporting of debt-related information to stakeholders.

Risk Management:

  • Identify and assess risks associated with debt capital markets activities and develop appropriate risk mitigation strategies.
  • Monitor compliance with debt covenants and regulatory requirements, and proactively address any potential breaches.
  • Be responsible for financial analysis to assess the impact of moves in market interest rates and currencies on the Group’s balance sheet.
  • Examine hedging strategies to manage interest rate and currency risks associated with market risk implications to the Group’s balance sheet.
  • Manage the DCM related exposures towards Credit and Operational risks.

What we need from you:

  • Significant experience / qualification in Treasury (Cert BALM / ACT), Finance, or a related field
  • Relevant experience in debt capital markets, treasury, or investment banking.
  • Deep knowledge of debt capital markets instruments, structures, and legal documentation.
  • Proven experience in executing debt issuances and managing relationships with financial institutions and investors.
  • Excellent financial analysis and modeling skills, with proficiency in financial software and tools.
  • Strong understanding of risk management principles and strategies in debt capital markets and the management of a Financial Services balance sheet.
  • Experience in fast-paced, high-growth digital or consumer environment with experience of European and international markets.
  • Experience of financial analytics preferably a credit management or private equity is desirable
  • Commercial acumen in understanding business changes to financial performance and impact on business goals
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and in relatively complex situations, reacting with appropriate urgency to situations requiring rapid turnaround
  • Fluent in English language skills both written, presentation and verbal communications. The role may require some travel to all Lowell regions.
