Description:

Interim Communications Director Brief
CareTech is an independent provider of specialist adult care and education services operating primarily in the UK, with a growing presence in the MENA region, employing c. 11,000 staff with annual revenue of c. £650m.
We are looking for an interim Communications Director to spearhead our refreshed approach to communications with a clear strategy focused on our staff and trusted external Partners that requires high impact implementation.
For the next 12 months there are three core communications objectives:
To support a step change impact in engagement with our staff
Increasing and deepening understanding and trust with key funders and other stakeholders
Adding tangible awareness, understanding, involvement and engagement with staff to our recruitment and retention activities.
Working to an Executive Director sponsor as a member of a senior working group our ‘big ticket’ items will include:
A comprehensive staff survey undertaken by an external specialist to provide all staff with a voice. And us the opportunity to listen (already set up to run in mid-April)
To evaluate and procure an online staff engagement / communication App and its integration with existing internal infrastructure
To transform our social media presence to amplify core messages to both internal and external audiences
Having a clear articulation of, and supporting messaging, of value added to our 50+ sub brands and subsidiaries of being part of the CareTech Group
‘Extraordinary Days, Every Day’ is our strapline and we believe this is a powerful statement of what we do. The Group has expanded from traditionally one about looking after people with high acuity needs to other aspects of their lives including use of assistive technology. We think ‘We more than care’ would be a great way of telling our evolution story about what we do.
The interim Communications Director will have a proven track record of delivering impact and working with an organisation with a multiple-brand set up. The individual will have experience of multi-channel implementation of trusted relationship building with staff teams and key external stakeholders. The person does not need prior experience of working in the social care and health sectors but a fresh, innovative, and fast paced attitude and capability to get things done. We are ideally looking for someone from outside the social care and health sector to bring a fresh approach and ideas to our plans.
The individual will have scope to bring in support resource, either through internal appointments or using agency expertise.
The role commands a competitive remuneration package and can performed remotely although the incumbent will be expected to spend time in the Group HQ in Potters Bar, and to travel widely across the UK to see our services and meet our staff.
The appointment would be for an initial 12-month period
