ABOUT YOU

Degree in Accountancy or its equivalents
Accredited Tax Practitioner (Income Tax) qualification is preferred
Minimum 10 years of experience in corporate tax, GST, withholding tax and transfer pricing from Big 4 and large MNCs.
In-house tax experience in a fast-paced environment and cross cultures organisation.
Hands on experience in tax reporting either at Regional or Group level.
Hands on experience in preparing tax disclosure notes in audited accounts is preferred.
Strong technical knowledge of Singapore tax regime.
Knowledge of global frameworks related to direct/indirect tax and transfer pricing.
Strong knowledge and application of tax accounting principles at Group consolidation level.
Well organised and detail orientated with strong analytical and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure to deliver in tight deadlines.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, working knowledge of some ERP system is preferred.
Ability to deal with multiple stakeholders across different cultures.
Ability to work independently without much supervision.

Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Group Tax Manager is a key member of the Global financial management community and reports directly to the Group Tax Director. He/She will be actively involved in tax planning, compliance, controls, and reporting at Group level. In addition, He/She will be the key contact person for all Singapore tax related matters as well as be involved, on a case-by-case basis, in M&A activities and other various ad-hoc projects at the Group level.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Local Tax Reporting and Compliance
Manage Singapore tax compliance matters, including but not limited to:
Review and approved the Singapore income tax returns and GST returns prepared by local finance or external advisors.
Collaborate with local financial controllers to ensure corporate tax and GST returns are filed on timely manner and tax liabilities are paid in due course.
Manage tax queries raised by IRAS to ensure they are dealt with appropriately and on timely manner. If need be, seek advice from external consultants.
Highlight to Group Tax Director any contentious tax issues and suggest any practical solutions.
Support and/or educate local financial controllers with the changes in the domestic tax regulations that are impacting their business operations.
Review monthly income tax and deferred tax computations, validate the accounting entries as well as the reconciliation on BS accounts in supporting the balances at each closing.
Monitoring the WHT on intercompany recharges to ensure proper accrual is made at the time of billing and utilisation upon settlement.
Assist to obtain Certificate of Residence (COR) from IRAS to be entitled to the treaty benefits including apostille / notarise the COR (where necessary)..
Manage the relationship with the external advisor.
Global Tax Reporting, Controls and Compliance
Partner and manage the relationship with various internal stakeholders such as Group FC, Group FP&A, business lines CFOs and functional heads to ensure all taxes (ie. current tax, deferred tax and WHT) are properly accrued and accounted for on monthly basis.
Work collaboratively with Regional Tax team and TP experts to ensure all aspects of taxes have been duly considered for either at each legal entity or Group level.
Perform monthly PL tax analysis to ensure the ETR at Group and country levels are reasonable. If not, propose necessary Group level adjustment.
Perform high level BS review at each legal entity level on monthly basis to ensure provisions are sufficiently maintained, DTA on tax loses are properly supported or identify any excess provisions to be released.
Undertake cash tax reconciliation and prepare monthly tax reporting (MMR) deck summarising the Group tax performance (including cash tax) against Budget and Prior Year for presentation to the Group CFO.
Provide tax commentaries to the PATMI and Board decks that are prepared by Group FC.
Manage the Budget process (including cash tax) for the Group with close collaboration with Group FP&A.
Assist in the year end statutory audit process of the Group including preparing the tax provision for the Singapore entities, the relevant tax notes and/or reviewing tax disclosures in the consolidated Group audited accounts.
Manage the implementation of Group’s tax policy and controls to ensure consistent application across countries.
Identify any non-compliance through the tax compliance checklist submitted by local financial controllers on monthly basis and feedback to the business line CFOs and Group Tax Director for necessary action.
Tax Strategy
Actively support the Group Tax Director in developing the Group’s tax strategy as the business and global tax climate evolved.
Assist Group Tax Director in implementing strategic tax decisions that drives the Group tax forward.
Identifying opportunities for further enhancement and development of the tax strategy and function.
Proactively contribute ideas that could help to mitigate tax risks and/or optimize tax opportunities for the Group.
Continuous Improvement
Continuously review work processes to ensure efficient workflow to maximize efficiency and quality of information flow.
Lead or implement new projects as necessary from time to time.
