Description:
The Guardian Assistant will be responsible for supporting the Nak’azdli Guardian Coordinator. They shall be responsible for assisting in all guardianship activities on Nak’azdli territory that include both administrative and field-based activities. The Guardians assistant will work closely with and under the direction of the Guardian Coordinator and the Yinka Huwunline to enact the Nak’azdli Land Stewardship Plan through site visits, Keyoh support and stakeholder engagement.

Type: Contractual Full Time upto 1 year
Duties:
- Establish Support the Natural Resources department with referral review and correspondence with Keyoh
- Engage and support Keyoh to obtain feedback on activities related to their affiliated territory
- Coordinate site visits and verification for identified concerns
- Assist to develop site maps and data collection
- Conduct environmental and wildlife monitoring and reporting
- Compile data and information for Keyoh and Chief & Council reporting
- Support the implementation of the Nak’azdli Whut’en Land Stewardship Plan
- Attend related workshops and training.
- Conduct safety assessments and tailgate meetings
- Other duties as assigned
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES & SKILLS:
- Grade 12 Diploma an asset
- Post-Secondary accreditations an asset
- Environmental monitoring or related experience
- Effective interpersonal communication
- Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Working knowledge of digital and physical filing systems
- Experience with All Terrain Vehicles
- Knowledge of backroad practices and safety
- Experience reading maps and navigating
- Clear Criminal Record Check
- Valid BC Class 5 Drivers license and Abstract
