Description:
We have an exciting opportunity for two Band 7 Biomedical Scientists within the Haematology department at the Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board. We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated, forward thinking, driven individual with a flexible approach, to help deliver a high quality, first class Haematology service to our users.
These positions will be based at Royal Glamorgan Hospital; However, there is opportunity and expectation to rotate to the Prince Charles Hospital as required.
The ideal candidate must be a HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist with a relevant Biomedical Science MSc degree, or equivalent/experience. You must have UK laboratory experience as a Specialist Biomedical Scientist, at band 6 level or above, with a specialist interest in Haematology, having good theoretical and practical knowledge.
You will be responsible for the day to day operational management of the hospitals Haematology departments within the health board. You will be expected to work collaboratively with the Haematology Operational Manager and other senior biomedical scientists in both haematology and blood transfusion to facilitate service improvement and development of staff. You will be expected to perform staff appraisals and other HR/workforce duties, rota management and may also be required to deputise for the Haematology Operational Manager at times.
Advanced communication and leadership skills are essential for this role and as a department we strive to deliver compassionate and inclusive leadership to our team.
You will be committed to providing a high quality service to our patients and have a commitment to training and quality. You should have an understanding of UKAS ISO 15189:2022.
The department is UKAS accredited to ISO 15189 and is an accredited IBMS training laboratory.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post but not essential; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board is part of the NHS Wales family. Our Health Board provides primary, secondary and community health and wellbeing services to around 450,000 people living in three County Boroughs: Bridgend Merthyr Tydfil, and Rhondda Cynon Taf.

Performing and supervising laboratory procedures
Co-ordination of staff on a daily basis to ensure service delivery
Assisting in the development of and supervising the implementation of service developments within Haematology/Blood Transfusion
Supervision and Training of laboratory staff
Ensuring IQC/EQA is satisfactory across all sections of haematology
