Description:
BASED AT BEAUTIFUL WAIKAWA MARINA
Marlborough Sounds Marinas, the marinas business unit of Port Marlborough, is privileged to manage three substantial and comprehensive marina facilities at Havelock, Waikawa and Picton. Collectively the marinas provide more than 1,000 wet berths with another 250 new berths coming on stream this summer. Supplemented by 260 boatsheds, significant compound storage space and very active trailer boat launching facilities, the operation is a central service hub for recreational boating, community access and commerce within the Marlborough Sounds.
Based at Waikawa Marina and working closely with the wider Marina team this role plays a crucial role organising and undertaking the hardstand and haulout operation and providing excellent customer service to individual boat-owners and marine service providers.
This is a physical, hands-on role with responsibility for the safe operation of mechanical lift equipment (including a 35 tonne Travelift and a Forklift) for haulout and re-launching vessels, and moving vessels and equipment to adjacent boat maintenance yards. Duties include water-blasting vessels, preparing cradles to receive vessels, maintaining hardstand areas in clean and tidy condition and undertake maintenance of waste management systems to ensure environmental excellence.
To be successful in this role you will need to be a team player who is committed to excellence in health and safety; is practical, a problem-solver and able to care for and maintain equipment, infrastructure and facilities. You’ll be friendly, professional, and prompt when engaging with customers and aware of the importance of environmental responsibilities and biosecurity outcomes within the Marina environment.
If you are looking for a new hands-on opportunity working within a great team, then we would love to hear from you.
