This role is part of a highly talented and specialized Hardware team that contributes towards the design and development of Navico Group’s high-end marine electronics products.
You will have the opportunity to be involved in all phases of hardware development with possible involvement in FPGA and software development, from initial concept development to hands-on product testing and introduction to volume manufacture.
In addition, you will also assist in the transition of new products to manufacturing and aid operations in developing support skills for new products.
The role requires you to function in a team environment with limited supervision, where you will be expected to coordinate with others to accomplish project tasks.

Specifically the role is responsible for:

  • Designing, developing and debugging microprocessor based PCBs.
  • Document findings, recommendations, schematics, programs etc. and be a strong proponent of process control and improvement.

The successful fulfillment of this role will result in:

  • Customers (internal and external) receiving products that meet or exceed their expectations in terms of functionality, cost, quality and time to market.
  • Analogue and digital low and high speed HW board level design
  • Circuit synthesis, simulation, prototyping, troubleshooting
  • Schematic development and HW specification maintenance
  • Overseeing board layout design and debugging
  • Module and Product testing and validation, DFM, DFT
  • Developing test plans for R&D projects
  • Signal Integrity issues and Standards compliance
  • Key HW component selection and design
  • Ensure new components are suitably approved & documented
  • Maintain product Bill of Material integrity
  • Involvement in the planning and scheduling of R&D projects
  • Identify and manage hardware related risks so that effect on functionality, costs or delivery is minimized
  • Technical documentation and reporting
  • Coordinate with production and test engineers with all necessary support to ensure the successful launch of products
  • Interact with functional testers, product support engineers and other customers (internal and external) in troubleshooting and problem resolution for software development
  • Developing expertise with the operation, design, and manufacture of Navico marine products
  • Communicate openly with all team members

Minimum requirements:

  • Electronics Engineering degree or equivalent
  • Fluent with simulation tools for design and verification
  • Proficient user of electronic CAD and MS Office package

Desirable:

  • Firmware development experience
  • Electronic product development experience from concept to volume manufacture
  • Familiar with DFT, DFM and multi-layer PCB technology
  • Knowledge of manufacturing techniques and processes
