Overall Mandate:
Key Responsibilities
- Establish technical proficiency in automotive GSM/LTE/GNSS telematics devices and vehicle interfaces.
- Tier 3 product support, with some customer interaction via phone and email, responding in a timely manner that ensures we meet our service level agreements.
- Conduct troubleshooting and diagnostics of automotive telematics hardware, related accessories, and end-to-end connectivity.
- Participate in hardware engineering, bills of material, technical specifications, improvement of systems and processes, test plans, and operating processes.
- Participate in setup of test fixtures to support testing/validation of automotive telematics devices.
- Troubleshoot devices for root cause failure analysis.
- Collaborate with other team members and departments, share knowledge and expertise.
- Assist in providing device demos as required.
- Assist in defining and running test scripts for other team members.
Required Skills
- Understanding of cellular modems, mobile apps, and associated IoT technologies (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth classic and LE), serial interfaces (RS-232, RS-485, USB, CAN).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Proven ability to liaise with others to capture use case and expectations and then define requirements and testing criteria.
- Effective organizational skills and the ability to manage workload with conflicting priorities, and with minimal supervision.

- Ability to quickly learn a variety of product devices and related application solutions.
- Fluent in English both written and verbal, with excellent communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license and modern vehicle in good working order.
We would love you to have the following
- College level diploma, electrical/electronic/mechatronic technician or technologist, or proven equivalent experience.
- 5+ years working in a hardware device support, lab testing, quality control/audit role.
- 5+ years working in a manufacturing or product engineering support role.
Nice to have
- Experience with automotive protocols; SAE J1979, SAE J1939, SAE J1850, ISO 9141, ISO 15765.
- Understanding of IoT and vehicle to cloud connectivity via: APN, VPN, TCP, UDP, MQTT, gRPC, etc.
- Experience working with cellular carriers for device level certifications.
- Experience with FCC/IC or similar regulatory certifications.
- Experience with Lithium battery powered devices, including integral solar charging.
- Experience with troubleshooting and debugging using lab equipment; multi-meter, power supplies.
- Hands-on electronics/mechatronics prototyping experience.
- Experience with; python, embedded C/C++, JavaScript, Go, bash, git, Linux, Android.
