The opportunity
The HD Diesel Mechanic reports to the Head Mechanic and is responsible for coordinating, supervising, and performing maintenance, repairs, and services on Geotech Group’s plant and equipment, with a focus on piling rigs. This role ensures all equipment is in excellent working order and ready for site use. The mechanic will also source and purchase necessary parts and supplies to ensure efficient operation, including critical spare.
Key responsibilities:
- Maintenance and Repairs: Coordinate, supervise, and perform services, repairs, and maintenance on our plant and equipment, including piling rigs.
- Safety and Compliance: Ensure all equipment is maintained in safe working condition, accompanied by a Plant Hazard Risk Assessment (PHRA), and immediately address any detected faults. Tag out any equipment that is unsafe to operate until repaired.
- Service Records: Keep detailed service records and ensure they are up-to-date and accessible.
- Breakdown Response: Respond promptly to plant and equipment breakdowns, organizing repairs either in the workshop or onsite.
- Inventory Management: Source and purchase parts and supplies, maintain appropriate stock levels of critical spares, and manage fuel and oil supplies.
- Inspection and Auditing: Inspect damaged equipment, audit repairs, and back-charge repairs to projects where appropriate.
Required Skills and Competencies
- Qualified Diesel Mechanic with experience working on earthmoving and construction equipment, including piling rigs, drilling rigs, excavators, loaders, bobcats, trucks, and light vehicles.
- Strong knowledge of hydraulics and electrics.
- Rigging (Intermediate) HRW License or Dogging HRW License.
- Current Driver License (Heavy Combination Driver License preferable).
