This role requires a strategic, analytical, and experienced financial mind. You are a detail oriented technical accountant with extensive experience working with physical inventory in the e-commerce world. You are comfortable working with all teams including at the executive level and you seek to truly own the company’s financial processes and reporting. You strive to deliver not only the “what” of financial position, but also the “why.”
This position is a highly visible, key role within the organization. The Controller will work closely with the executive, technical and operations teams on a daily basis. The Controller will own and manage all aspects of corporate accounting including close processes, timely financial reporting, data integrity management within the ERP (Netsuite), oversight of AP and AR, plus some administrative responsibilities for the company. This person must be a hands on leader who brings strength in process improvement, streamlining close cycles and is experienced in managing financial reporting according to US GAAP. Reports directly to the CEO with ongoing support from fractional CFO.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Fluent in English - spoken and written. You will need to communicate complicated accounting and business topics with the executive team, in English every week.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, accounting processes and internal controls

Responsibilities:

  • Management and oversight of the company’s day-to-day transactional accounting activities maintaining Chart of Accounts and General Ledger accuracy, including:
  • Order to Cash [Sales Orders, Cash Sales, AR invoicing, and Cash collections]
  • Purchase to Pay [Purchase Orders, Item Receipts, AP processing and bill payments
  • Cash management
  • Payroll
  • Ensuring ERP integration points and the associated automated transactions are working as anticipated
  • Continually improve and execute the company’s month end close schedules and processes, including all balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, proper revenue recognition, inventory integrity, fixed assets, and any other accrual entries.
  • Prepare accurate monthly financial statements in a timely manner along with insights into what drove the reported results and a comparison to plan.
  • Monitors financial trends and provides team members with detailed reports and ad-hoc analysis; advise on problem matters and recommends courses of action designed to correct or reduce their impact.
  • Guides financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures.
  • Maintain existing and implement new business processes and accounting policies to strengthen internal controls and improve accounting department efficiency.
  • Be the US GAAP subject matter expert, ensuring technical issues are well analyzed and reflected in the company’s technical memos.
  • Alongside external resources, coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting and ensure compliance with local, state, federal and international government reporting requirements and tax filings.
  • Provide weekly, monthly, quarterly reporting to the bank or other external parties as required, including preparation of Borrowing Base Certificates.
