Job Summary
We are actively seeking a visionary and accomplished leader to spearhead our HOOPP AI Lab, a groundbreaking initiative that aims to revolutionize investment management and pension administration through the strategic exploration, evaluation, and implementation of cutting-edge Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies. Reporting into the Chief Technology Officer (CTO), this role represents a unique opportunity to shape the future of our organization and the pension industry at large.
What you will do:
Strategic Vision and Leadership:
- Provide strategic leadership in alignment with the goals set by the Executive Team, focusing on the exploration and integration of AI technologies, including Machine Learning, Generative AI, and AI-driven analytics.
- Develop and execute a comprehensive AI strategy aligned with HOOPP’s overarching objectives.
- Provide visionary leadership to proactively identify and capitalize on disruptive industry developments.
- Lead and inspire a high-performing team of software engineers, data scientists, and business strategists.
- Foster a collaborative and innovative environment across HOOPP to drive AI initiatives forward.
Innovation and Experimentation:
- Proactively monitor disruptive industry developments, identify applicable use cases for HOOPP, and lead early experimentation in a secure, ring-fenced environment.
- Collaborate with external entities, industry leaders, and internal teams, researching and leveraging evolving AI solutions to enhance investment decision-making, portfolio optimization, risk management, and back-office operations.
- Conceptualize and develop Proof-of-Concepts (PoCs) within a secure, ring-fenced environment, ensuring the safeguarding of HOOPP’s operational technology assets.
- Evaluate successful PoCs for potential transition into full-scale projects, adhering to existing HOOPP practices.
- Assess in partnership with IT Enterprise Architecture on compatibility of successful PoCs with existing technology stack to ensure a smooth integration of AI technologies.
Governance and Compliance:
- Establish and adhere to a less intrusive governance model that facilitates autonomy and nimbleness in AI exploration.
- Develop and implement relevant AI policies and governance frameworks, considering regulatory and general governance factors.
Secure Technical Environment:
- Oversee the operation of the Lab within a segregated technical environment, ensuring the safeguarding of HOOPP’s operational technology assets.
- Implement procedures to protect HOOPP IP against data leakage.
Metrics and Reporting:
- Track and report key metrics, including knowledge gained, completed experimentations (PoCs), and successful PoCs transitioned into production.
- Provide regular updates and insights to the Executive Team.
What you bring:
- Advanced degree (Ph.D. or Master’s) in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Computer Science, or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in leading and executing Innovation initiatives within the financial industry, with a focus on investment management and capital markets.
- Proven expertise in implementing AI technologies, including but not limited to advanced Machine Learning algorithms, generative AI models, and emerging AI frameworks.
- Deep understanding of AI technologies, including Machine Learning and Generative AI
- Knowledge of relevant AI policies, governance frameworks, and regulatory considerations.
- Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and guide multidisciplinary teams, including software engineers, data scientists, and business strategists.
- In-depth understanding of Capital Markets, pension fund administration, and the financial services industry.
- Proven ability to navigate the complexities and nuances of investment decision-making processes.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with external entities and industry leaders.
- Demonstrated success in fostering a collaborative and innovative team culture.
- Demonstrated comfort with a fast changing and ambiguous work environment.
- Experience strategically positioning AI as a competitive advantage within a highly competitive industry.
