Primark has an updated business strategy called “Primark 2030 – The Next Chapter” with an exciting growth strategy which will see investment in our Trading channels.

Given the breadth of our business and scale of our transformation, we will organise our Transformation and team around three domains:

  • Enterprise teams enable the business to scale operations efficiently while reinforcing Primark DNA through leading colleague experiences and ESG programmes.
  • Channels focus on end-to-end customer journey, engage to sell, to delight and surprise customers with inventive experiences and a power brand.
  • Commercials deliver the full lifecycle of order to receipt/ concept to store and the capability to support Primark growth ambitions.

The business is seeking to recruit an experienced Head of Commercial Domain Transformation to plan, drive and govern the transformation within the Commercial domain and ensure it is aligned to the other domains. You’ll will play a pivotal role in helping steer Primark through this exciting growth phase. The Head of Commercial Domain Transformation will work closely with senior stakeholders across the business to Plan, Drive and Govern “Primark 2030 The Next Chapter”.

Responsibilities:

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

In your role, you’ll collaborate with different people across a range of skillsets. Here’s a flavour of your day-to-day:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive transformation strategy for the commercial domain.
  • Working with business leaders and the Strategy Director, define the vision, goals, and roadmap for the transformation journey. Establish metrics and key performance indicators to measure the success of transformation initiatives.
  • Understand the business outcomes that need to be delivered and to achieve Primark’s KPIs. Develop a sequenced roadmap to deliver these outcomes ensuring it is achievable, working closely with technology product teams to build a comprehensive plan.
  • Partner with finance and business leaders on the creation of business cases and play an active role in approval, ensure we are looking at costs/resources holistically and not duplicating benefits, champion an integrated approach to budgeting and planning.
  • Maintain external perspective to ensure our Transformation is considering changes in regulation, competition, customer habits and other external factors.
  • Collaborate closely with senior stakeholders to establish and execute cross functional transformation strategies that drive operational efficiency, improve organisational effectiveness, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Design and lead processes to drive Transformation initiatives, from concept to realised value.
  • Sit on relevant programme steering groups and provide direction and leadership to leads for initiatives within the domain.
  • Champion and partner with the change team to develop change strategies and management plans for the domain, ensuring initiatives are delivered the Primark way.
  • Represent Transformation at executive forums including annual budget planning and executive steering committees. Ensure we have effective and decision focused governance to drive progress.
  • Responsible for providing insight on initiatives across the domain, including financials and overall progress and how this impacts our target business outcomes. Challenge leaders and hold them account for spend, progress and benefits. Where issues cannot be resolved, own the escalation process.

  • At least 10+ years’ experience in a senior Transformation role, preferably in retail/FMCG/consulting.
  • Proven experience in leading large-scale transformation initiatives within the retail industry or a similar sector.
  • Previous consulting, business planning, or related roles within the retail industry beneficial.
  • Proven ability to think strategically and translate vision into actionable plans. Track record of senior level influencing – Director and C-Suite.
  • Experience working with technology functions in tech enabled transformations.
  • Experience managing significant budgets (+£50m)
  • Deep experience of managing 3rd party consultancies to deliver outcomes.
  • Experience of working within one or more of the functional areas in the domain is a distinct advantage and will ensure that the successful candidate approaches the role already understanding the intricacies and hand-offs from function to the next. This expertise must include a deep knowledge of the following business functions: Buying, Merchandising, Design, Sourcing, Supply Chain, Quality & Sustainability, Ethical Trade.
  • Candidates must also have demonstrable experience of having delivered significant business transformations within these areas covering the entire transformation process from the shaping of the roadmap through to benefits realisation. Transformation experience should also include evolution of operating models to ensure long-term success
