The Head of Corporate Communication and Stakeholder Engagement will lead and manage a flexible, specialist and integrated communications team to ensure our communication activities and outputs, work closely together with engagement activities and outputs across six places and at South West London level. This will ensure our integrated communications and engagement strategies for SW London have maximum impact and are of a consistently high professional standard.
This role will work closely with the Chief Executive and Chair and their teams, to ensure they are both supported in communicating consistently and transparently about our SW London system, and protecting and enhancing its reputation around delivery, partnership and innovation.
NHS South West London Integrated Care Board works with partners from across the South West London Integrated Care System (ICS) to develop plans to meet the health needs of the population and secure the provision of health services, and is directly accountable for NHS spend and performance in South West London.

With support from the deputy directors you will organise, prioritise, and manage the short to long term work plan for the following integrated communications elements of the work programme for the whole team, using specialist knowledge and experience, in close collaboration with senior engagement colleagues. The postholder will ensure each part of the team works together effectively and flexibly towards shared objectives.

  • Corporate communications – building trust with communities and partners by supporting the organisation to fulfil statutory requirements to be transparent and accountable for its duties, as well as communicating about the organisation’s priorities and objectives in a consistent way in line with key strategies.
  • Public affairs – monitoring and understanding the impact of external developments which may affect the organisation and our system. Supporting senior leaders to keep abreast of national and regional developments, guidance and NHS policy so that it caninfluence their plans and activity.
  • Stakeholder management – advising and supporting senior leaders to understand, build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders and partners.
  • Internal communications – ensuring our staff are informed and engaged in the work and strategic direction of the organisation, and the wider health and care system.
  • Joint digital lead (websites and accessibility) – together with the Head of Communications, Campaign and Engagement, ensure all communications and engagement team members are actively considering digital approaches as part of their wider plans – ensuring the organisation has an accessible and transparent digital presence. This role will have a particular focus and responsibility for the ICB and ICS websites and accessibility of information published online.

The post holder will have experience and expertise in each part of the communications remit and will be a source of professional advice and guidance for the team. The post holder should understand best engagement practice, be able to advise and clearly articulate why and how communications and engagement working together in an integrated way maximises the impact of the team.
