Join Close Brothers Credit Risk Team where you will be responsible for credit risk management of our ROI portfolios, ensuring effective and efficient risk identification, reporting, management, and escalation across the E2E credit lifecycle.
This role is a pre-approved controlled function role (PCF-47) as defined by the Central Bank Reform Act Regulations 2011 and will be required to comply with the necessary Fitness and Probity obligations.
Reporting to the Retail Risk Director, this role forms part of the broader Risk and Compliance function within the 2nd line of defence and is predominantly focused on retail lending (specifically motor finance) but includes aspects of commercial lending (e.g. dealer funding).
This role will act as a single point of contact across the various legal entities (e.g. Close Brothers Motor Finance and relevant ROI Designated Activity Companies) and lead credit related activity by working closely with relevant portfolio management teams and/or any other teams/stakeholders as required to deliver against key objectives.
The role will also lead credit aspects of integration and consolidation across legacy and new ROI portfolios as required.
Responsibilities include portfolio performance monitoring, credit risk appetite setting, local regulation support, and maintaining credit risk governance, oversight & controls.

IT IS NOT ESSENTIAL BUT IT WOULD BE GREAT IF YOU HAVE:

  • Working knowledge of designated activity companies, inter/intra company service agreements and material outsourcing.
  • Experience working in the ROI market/economy.
  • Experience developing risk control frameworks and governance to satisfy legal and regulatory requirements within ROI jurisdiction.
  • Strong Project Management skills with experience of leading Risk development projects.
  • Background in Retail Finance or a similar secured asset lending environment.
  • Working knowledge of analytical/reporting/coding tools, e.g., SAS, Business Objectives, Alteryx.
  • Educated to degree standard (or equivalent) in a numerate subject with knowledge of statistical and analytical techniques.

Responsibilities:

General

  • Lead the Credit Risk function for ROI and develop a high performing team capable of providing high quality credit and risk support, control, and business engagement.
  • Contribute to broader strategic planning and business decision-making, whilst maintaining the independence of the Credit Risk function for ROI.
  • Coordinate credit risk activity in ROI liaising with the local business representatives, to embed and maintain an effective credit risk management framework.

Membership

  • Member of the Motor Credit Leadership team.
  • Member of the relevant ROI Risk and Compliance Committee(s).
  • Member of relevant business forums, pending final DAC structure following consolidation across legacy and new ROI portfolios.

Portfolio / Risk Management

  • Lead the development and implementation of credit risk management frameworks, strategies, and measures for ROI, aligned to and compliant with Group Policies and Standards.
  • Own and manage portfolio credit quality and performance for ROI in line with agreed risk appetite, bad debt budget and business objectives.
  • Support bad debt forecasting, including provision adequacy for the respective business units and support periodic stress testing activity (e.g. ICAAP and/or local scenarios).

People Management

  • Recruit, train and employ high calibre employees within budget and headcount levels.
  • Coach, mentor and develop staff, including overseeing new employee onboarding and providing career development planning and opportunities.
  • Provide oversight and direction to employees in accordance with the firm’s policies, procedures, standards, and SLAs’.

Conduct & Governance

  • Promote a strong risk culture and discipline, with conduct in line with company values to help deliver great customer and partner outcomes.
  • Ensure all credit governance requirements are adhered to including timely completion of RCSAs, policy reviews, quality assurance, mandate reviews, audit remediation, incident management and escalation.
  • Support bank wide development and adoption of data governance and EUC standards

Developing Our People: as a line manager, you will be responsible for inspiring and motivating your team, as well as developing performance through coaching. You will encourage your team to take responsibility for their own personal development and provide support through regular feedback.
