Head of Engineering

THE ROLE

Reporting to our VP of Platform, this is an exciting new opportunity to truly own the Engineering functionality within Platform and support Dojo to scale through leveraged technology. This role primarily focuses on long-term Platform strategy, with responsibility for building and managing the squads within Platform.
We are looking for someone who takes pride & ownership in what they build, being able to voice their opinion and share their expertise, but also listen and make the correct decision. They shouldn’t be afraid to celebrate their successes, admit their mistakes and turn to others for help. Finally, they should be able to coach, mentor, and inspire those around them, embedding excellence, a sense of safety, and a desire to succeed in their teams, ensuring these values are adhered to at all levels.
A customer-centric approach is paramount as is a product mindset within the Platform space, considering internal users as customers. This role will extend across the organisation to enhance current and future business operations through technical innovation and engineering excellence.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

• Establish relationships across all tribes and business units, understand their needs, apply systems thinking and devise optimal technology solutions for a shared vision.
• Apply your expertise to coach squads to identify, deliver, implement, and optimise cutting-edge solutions, ensuring success for stakeholder functions.
• Define and convey a technology/solutions vision, grounded in detailed business requirements, technical feasibility, and Dojo product strategy dependencies.
• Be at the forefront of customer views. Understanding the customer is paramount and engineering plays a critical role here.
• High alignment with Product, Design, Data and Marketing Leads to ensure we deliver on outcomes, not outputs.
• Be a champion for engineering best practices, keeping security, scalability, observability, reliability and efficiency improvements in mind at all times.
• Support in crafting and operationalizing the strategic and operational direction for Platform with a data-led lens.
• Mentor and guide direct reports for growth, and collaborate on a clear development framework with engineering managers and department heads.
