PLEASE REVIEW THE FOLLOWING JOB DESCRIPTION:

Lead and own the design, implementation, and strategic development of the Truist enterprise governance framework to provide enterprise-wide, forward-looking, and risk-based processes and systems to ensure sufficient awareness, oversight and approval by the Truist Board of Directors and Executive Leadership of the limits, controls, and risk management regime supporting the safety and soundness of Truist. Provide strategic leadership across the enterprise and lead a team of risk governance managers, specialists, and analysts to drive the development and execution of a multi-level policy governance structure, comprehensive governance materials inventory, and universal committee structure with lineage to the Truist Board of Directors.
Following is a summary of the essential functions for this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time.
1. Lead and own the design, implementation, and strategic development of the Truist enterprise governance framework to provide enterprise-wide, forward-looking, and risk-based processes and systems to ensure sufficient awareness, oversight and approval by the Truist Board of Directors and Executive Leadership of the limits, controls and risk management regime supporting the safety and soundness of Truist.
2. Provide strategic leadership and consultation across the enterprise and lines of defense to drive the development and execution of a multi-level policy governance structure, comprehensive governance materials inventory, and universal committee structure with lineage to the Truist Board of Directors.
3. Lead the identification, review, and approval of enterprise governance directives from the Truist Board of Directors to Truist Executive Leadership and management outlining critical requirements and governance practices to ensure execution in alignment with Truist’s established strategy and risk appetite.
4. Lead the development, oversight and continuous improvement of enterprise governance policies and procedures to establish defined processes, clear roles and responsibilities, effective challenge routines, high-value quality assurance activities, and stakeholder trainings and communications to support a comprehensive, enterprise-level and risk-based oversight program.
5. Manage a team of risk governance specialists to provide coordination, effective challenge and robust independent oversight of enterprise and function-specific policies, limits, and committees to drive efficient governance structures and requirements to effectively manage and mitigate risks across the company.
6. Lead the risk governance managers and analysts in the aggregation, analysis, monitoring and escalation of enterprise governance activities through the assessment and reporting of exceptions, issues, key risk indicators, and limits/thresholds to the appropriate business functions and enterprise risk committees.
7. Own, manage, and maintain the enterprise-wide system(s) of record for governance materials through the oversight and management of supporting technical resources and third-party relationship(s) and through the administration of system upgrades, data, hierarchies, training, and user access management.
8. Plan, budget, organize, coordinate, and manage work of staffing and resources within the Policy Management and Governance function to meet division, department, and enterprise goals.
9. Lead and develop a team of risk governance managers, specialists and analysts through effective coaching, training, career development, salary administration, performance assessment, budgeting, and team member selection.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Economics or equivalent education and related training.
2. Fifteen+ years of financial services or risk management experience or demonstrated equivalent proficiency.
3. Five+ years of experience providing enterprise-wide leadership and team management with demonstrated high competency in recruiting, developing, and coaching/mentoring.
4. Advanced experience with formulating and managing complex enterprise-wide risk programs and designing and maintaining enabling technology platforms.
5. Demonstrated leadership skills including the ability to lead direct and indirect reports; excellent communication (verbal and written), presentation and facilitation skills.
6. Interpersonal and relationship management skills with ability to interact and communicate within all levels of organization and within public sector/governmental agencies.
7. Analytical, cognitive, conceptual, critical thinking and organizational skills with ability to translate high-level business plans; process certification or industry equivalent.
8. Negotiation skills and highly collaborative planning ability, diplomacy, tact, judgment, problem-solving and decision-making skills
9. Five+ years interacting with banking regulators; 1Ten years driving executive/C-level discussions; Five+ years interacting and presenting to the board of directors.
10. Demonstrated proficiency in basic computer applications, such as Microsoft Office software products

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Master’s degree in related field, Banking School graduate, or equivalent education and related training.
  2. Experience at a large ($175+ Billion) financial institution, and history of demonstrated leadership of a business line or corporate function.
  3. Significant experience developing and executing large-scale projects in risk, finance, technology or an LOB.
  4. Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft SharePoint, Visio, and Project software products.
