SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

You are CA/CPA qualified and have compiled an impressive track record and reputation as a high achieving finance leader. You have highly developed technical accounting skills and commercial acumen, along with proven experience managing complex and high-level stakeholder relationships. You are a big picture forward thinking leader who can reason at a conceptual level and drive change, while still maintaining strong attention to detail and a hands-on approach.
You are a natural leader with a high degree of integrity, you are comfortable to challenge traditional financial practices to deliver better value for the organisation and the communities it serves. You have the confidence and credibility to engage effectively and build relationships at Board level, and with senior executives and operational stakeholders. A creative and proactive thinker is required to navigate a dynamic environment and lead through change.

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the CFO, you will be responsible for the management of the finance functions, compliance and financial strategy of this Victorian statutory agency. You will be accountable in ensuring the finance function provides accurate, timely and reliable data, modelling and analysis to assist the entire organisation in making strategic decisions and executing their plans. This key leadership role will see you working closely with senior leaders to drive a culture of business partnering in line with their values and mission.

Duties

  • Developing, implementing and managing the strategic direction of the finance function delivering on growth and optimisation
  • Providing timely and accurate management information and analysis to the executive management team and the Board in relation to budgets, financial performance, economic evaluation and general financial analysis
  • Managing financial risk
  • Ensuring compliance with statutory, legal, tax and regulatory obligations and requirements are met
  • Lead the implementation of relevant internal and external audit recommendations to ensure continued best practice is adhered to
  • Monitor financial performance against the organisation’s key financial targets
  • Lead an effective payroll function, creating constructive working relationships with the Workplace Relations team to ensure accuracy of payments to staff and compliance with all statutory and Enterprise Agreement obligations are met
  • Providing support and guidance to ensure all contractual, legal and financial requirements of the business are documented fully and adhered to
  • Champion business improvements through process and or technology reviews and where appropriate lead development of business case, requirement specifications, procurement and implementation
  • Developing and leading a high performing team, while maximising employee engagement and enablement across the function
