SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Over 8 years of experience in WHS leadership roles.
  • Tertiary qualification in WHS/OHS or risk management.
  • Proven capability in leading WHS in global jurisdictions and various operational risk profiles.
  • Strong strategic planning and analytical skills.
  • Exceptional communication skills, capable of effectively engaging and influencing all levels of the organisation.
  • Experience working in a production centric industry or FMCG would be advantageous

Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Chief People Officer, you will be ensuring that the safety and wellbeing agenda and focus is defined, harmonised and reflects the evolving needs of our business. This role will sit in the corporate People and Culture team but have a dotted reporting line to the Chief Supply Chain Officer and work closely with Safety Manager’s based at our production sites (Smeaton Grange, NSW and New Zealand). You will be expected to lead, mentor and collaborate with onsite safety team members to ensure the implementation and consistency of our approach to risk management, physical and psychological wellbeing and embed HSW standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategy:

  • Develop and , implement a health, safety and wellbeing strategy for the Group (with the support of key stakeholders),
  • Regularly review, monitor and report on progress against the group HSW strategy

Framework:

  • Take ownership of the development of a Health Safety and Wellbeing framework for the Group and ensure a consistent and systematic approach to safety and wellbeing has been established and embed throughout the organisation
  • Maintain all HSW standards, policies & procedures

Legislative obligations:

  • Understand the regulatory obligations in relation to compliance in accordance with the governing legislation within the different jurisdictions in which a2MC operates (currently, Australia, NZ, US and China) and ensure policies, processes and systems are designed and built to comply.
  • Notify Executives and other relevant stakeholders of relevant changes to compliance obligations
  • Ensure operating compliance to regulatory and legislative requirements across each of the jurisdictions where we do business.

Risk Management:

  • Maintain and monitor HSWS risk register and reporting processes.
  • Partner with the business to establish, develop, maintain and monitor appropriate and consistent HSW risk registers for relevant business units and functions across the group
  • Partner with the business to ensure robust systems in place to identify, assess and treat HSW risks across the group
  • Partner with the Group Head of Risk to ensure relevant HSW risks are escalated/synergised with the Enterprise Risk Management Framework
  • Identify appropriate leading and lagging HSW risk indicators
  • Partner with the business to monitor corrective actions
  • Take a leading role in the implementation of a digital solution to support optimisation HSW risk management (including but not limited to capture, management and reporting of HSW incidents, near misses and hazards)

Reporting:

  • Monthly board reporting to meet ASX and NSX requirements and support the Board of Directors with relevant decision making
  • Regular reporting to the Executive Team on relevant HSW matters
  • Ensure processes and procedures in place to comply with all HSW regulatory reporting obligations

Culture:

  • Set and promote a positive culture for Health and safety across the organisation.
  • Partner with the business to develop safety leadership skills and behavioural attributes for our people to continually achieve the highest levels of safety performance
  • Partner with the business to drive robust HSW training modules
  • Lead the psychological safety and wellbeing agenda across all worksites

General:

  • Identify opportunities to drive a continuous improvement approach to how we manage risk and safety processes and procedures
  • Proactively influence and advise senior leaders and the Executive Leadership Team on WHS-related issues, risk management, and legislative compliance.
  • Coach and mentor our safety team members and work collaboratively to achieve business outcomes
