About the role

Key responsibilities include:

  • Implement the people and organisational development components of SAHMRI’s strategic plan.
  • Oversee both the Human Resources and Organisational Development functions for the Institute to provide excellent customer service and to ensure consistency in all HR and OD matters across the board.
  • Support and guide the HR team, allowing and encouraging continual professional development and implementing appropriate succession planning.
  • Develop, maintain and implement HR systems, processes, policies and infrastructure that deliver the strategic objectives of the Institute.
  • Provide advice to the Executive Leadership of SAHMRI on key strategies, trends and issues for leading the best practice human resources practices across the Institute.
  • Support the SAHMRI Board and Executive in the execution of their responsibilities through the provision of relevant HR data, information and advice.
  • Identify the need for HR projects and programs and develop and implement these with consultation from impacted stakeholders.

About You

The successful candidate will possess the following key attributes:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources or Business.
  • A successful and proven track record as a senior HR practitioner in a multi-disciplinary role.
  • Experience directly supporting an executive team on people and culture strategies.
  • Customer service focus to align with and achieve the Institute’s objectives.
  • Demonstrated experience leading, growing and developing a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, lead and implement a broad range of contemporary HR and organisational development strategies, programs, policies and operational practices to successfully support the strategic objectives of the business.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify business needs, develop strategies and oversee projects.
  • Previous experience in managing change and the delivery of change management initiatives across the whole organisation.
  • Demonstrated high level of computer literacy including within a HRIS environment.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, and confidence in communicating and presenting in a number of settings.
  • A proven track record at building and maintaining effective working relationships with a range of stakeholders.
  • Capacity to engage constructively and respectfully with SAHMRI’s diverse cultural backgrounds and genders, and to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes and promote the principles to social justice, effective consultation and equitable access to services.

Special Requirements

  • Some out of hours work is required.
  • Regular metropolitan travel to SAHMRI’s various worksites
  • DCSI Employment Screening and Police Checks will be required
