ABOUT THE POSITION

We are looking for a dynamic and ambitious individual to join our IdEx team in the role of Head of International Scientific Visibility. You will use your background in high-level scientific research, your knowledge of the publishing landscape, and your strong communication and networking skills to contribute to the strategic development of our university.

You will make a significant impact by:

  • Developing the unit’s activities, aiming at helping our researchers and faculty members improve their research articles and funding applications both strategically (structure of the manuscript and impact of the writing) and qualitatively (English style and grammar).
  • Leading a team of English editors and helping them to further develop their competencies in editing and publishing.
  • Collaborating with colleagues across departments to contribute to increasing the research impact, visibility, and reputation of our faculty members and researchers.
  • Developing a comprehensive plan to enhance the international visibility of the university and its researchers and offer strategic advice to the university governance.
  • Continuously monitoring opportunities and advances in areas relevant to scientific publishing and academic performance, and benchmarking the university against the best international research universities to recommend the implementation of new practices and efficient tools.
  • Contributing to the popularization of the research of our laboratories by writing a few articles each year to be published in specialized magazines, websites, and social media.
  • Supporting the activities of our working group that aims to improve the visibility and the ranking of the university at the international level.
  • Managing the unit’s budget and billing policy.
  • Collaborating with managers and colleagues to establish a team culture of trust, respect, and high performance.

ABOUT YOUR PROFILE

We are looking for a candidate who possesses:

  • A Ph.D. degree in a scientific field, with a research background and publishing/editing experience gained with a reputed publisher or journal such as Nature, Science, The Lancet, etc.
  • A strong understanding of recent trends and developments in the areas of scientific publishing, bibliometrics, open science, etc.
  • A sound knowledge of the different bibliometric and bibliographic tools (Scopus, SciVal, Web of Science, etc.) and archiving databases such as HAL, arXiv, PubMed.
  • A good knowledge of academic rankings such as Shanghai ARWU, Leiden, QS, and THE, and their methodologies.
  • Strong management, teamwork, and communication skills, with a flexible and innovative approach to problem solving and a focus on defining and achieving outcomes.
  • An excellent command of the English language (both written and verbal). Knowledge of French is an asset.
  • A keen interest in science and research and a strong desire to advocate for innovations in publishing and open research.
