We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Head of Learning & Development to lead the learning and development initiatives across all Axiom Hospitality managed hotels. This pivotal role will shape and execute our L&D strategy, driving the development, implementation, and continuous evaluation of our people development and culture.
The position offers a full-time opportunity with hybrid working arrangements, involving travel and overnight stays as required.

SKILL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • You must have a previous expereience leading L&D department and L&D strategy setting;
  • Be able to demonstrate previous experience of coaching and developing others, at all levels;
  • Have excellent presentation skills and also be able to design course content;
  • It is vital you are exceptionally organised and able to prioritise and juggle a busy workload and multiple areas of responsibility;
  • You are passionate about developing yourself and others;
  • You have a clear, approachable and friendly communication style and strong customer service orientation;
  • Can demonstrate excellent analytical, problem solving judgement and decision making skills;
  • You will also ideally hold as a minimum Level 3 in Education and Training or Learning and Development, Train the Trainer and other recognised training qualifications;
  • Experience in new openings and business growth, preferably within the hospitality industry;
  • True master at diary organisation – you will have full autonomy;
  • Build new training programmes – always thinking about the bigger picture.
    You must have the right to work in the UK to be eligible for this role. Documented evidence of eligibility will be required from all candidates prior to commencing employment.

Responsibilities:

THE ROLE

As a Head of Learning & Development, in your role you will work to identify the training and development needs, design and deliver the appropriate interventions and evaluate effectiveness against people objectives. This role will cover all hotels under our group and will involve travel and overnight stays in our hotels as required.
You will collaborate with the people team and operations teams to build the best L&D strategy. You will be responsible for strategy around elevating the online training programmes and bringing them to life.
In your role, you will be the driving force behind elevating the skills and expertise throughout our hotels, with a passion for the continuous development of our people to be the best they can be, bringing our values to life every day.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Build and deliver engaging training programs that make learning accessible and memorable, incorporating differing methods of delivery to ensure that all of our teams get the information they need;
  • Develop clear career paths to guide our team members toward their full potential;
  • Working closely with the Operations and People Teams to create solutions for continuous improvement of the teams and our brand and to ensure compliance with regulations – getting us ready to deliver on any new or upcoming changes to legislation;
  • Continuously evaluate and improve training programs to align with our business aims of ensuring that everyone leaves happy and instilling this in our teams from the ground up;
  • Help develop and improve our working methods and delivery from E-Learning to online manager guides;
  • Monitor and evaluate training activity to assess performance against people and business objectives;
  • Work with the HR team and line managers to identity and assess future and current training needs by supporting job analysis, career paths, performance discussions, thereby supporting effective succession planning across the group;
  • Work with General and Deputy General Managers and departmental heads to drive training activity to support delivery of service standards;
  • Drive and support apprenticeship programmes across the business;
  • Ensure health and safety training materials are updated in line with company policy and legislation;
  • Co-ordinate external health and safety training;
  • Carry out project work as required across the group.

To be successful in this role, you should:

  • Have a creative problem-solving skills and a knack for innovative thinking a background in learning and development will be required – experience in other industries will be considered;
  • Being able to communicate well and present with confidence – an ability to present in an engaging way;
  • Willingness to collaborate across departments to meet training objectives, collaboration is key – teamwork will be required across out teams to get the results we need;
  • Attention to detail and good organisation skills are crucial;
  • You need to have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Canva, LMS and training module building tools
