You will also:

  • Ensure that operations are carried out safely in accordance with specified procedures including Health and Safety, environmental, QA and other relevant statutory and company requirements.
  • Manage manufacturing, transport & warehouse processes and performance in order to achieve Annual Plan targets for product quality, line output and reliability for internal material movements and external deliveries.
  • Communicate and translate the annual plan into daily, weekly and other periodic targets and to critically review performance against the plan.
  • Monitor customer complaints and feedback (including direct customer contact) and ensure that manufacturing operations respond appropriately to customer concerns and changes in market demands.
  • Ensure that all employees in the department are trained to the specified levels of competence and that suitable opportunities are provided for personal development, training, growth and succession.
  • Liaise with internal and external organisations to ensure the achievement of the Annual Plan, effective operation of maintenance programmes and the successful application of appropriate management systems, product development and supplier development.
  • Identify, monitor and manage the implementation of significant project and development schemes to improve plant performance and availability. Also to prioritise and allocate resources such as major maintenance.
  • Closely monitor operating cost variances and take appropriate action to correct adverse effects. To control costs within the allocated Budget level, ensuring that the department secures “value for money” in all transactions.
  • Benchmark elements of manufacturing performance against ‘best in class’ and thereby to develop relevant improvement plans.
  • Develop medium term plans for the development of the three lines in line with the Shotton Sustainability Commitment.
  • Manage and/or support development projects within Manufacturing.
  • Manage the relationship with relevant TU representatives.
