We are seeking a Head of Marketing and Audiences to join our fantastic Marketing team at Somerset House Trust. As the home of cultural innovators, Somerset House connects creativity and the arts with wider society. It brings worlds and minds together, and its energy is unending - intensifying creativity, multiplying opportunity, driving artistic and social innovation, and sometimes personal transformation, all at once.
The Somerset House marketing team leads audience-led marketing campaigns for a diverse range of cultural programming, which brings subjects and methods together in experimental forms. The team also helps market Somerset House as the home of cultural innovators, including Somerset House Studios, our other creative workspaces, and revenue streams such as venue hire, food and beverage.
The salary for this role is circa £65 000.

We are ideally looking for a senior Marketing professional with relevant experience, preferably as a Head of the department, along with the following person specification:

  • Ability to demonstrate significant experience leading 360 integrated campaigns at a senior level
  • Proven track record of building and executing marketing strategies at a senior level for various internal and external stakeholders.
  • Leadership skills with the ability to set and prioritise multiple project goals for the teams you’ll be leading.
  • A proven track record of initiating and promoting innovation and developing business opportunities.
  • Significant experience of delivering marketing solutions that achieve business objectives to a complex range of audiences.
  • Proven experience in use of audience data and segmentation.
  • Experience of analysing data, developing integrated communications strategies and plans and monitoring and evaluating results.
  • Strong paid media experience, specifically digital on and offline.
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, including presenting, inspiring teams, active listening, and writing compelling text, all through a combination of personal credibility, integrity, professionalism and creative thinking.
  • Intellectually curious with an analytical and process-oriented mind-set.
  • Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure.
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong relationship-building skills

Responsibilities:

HEAD OF MARKETING AND AUDIENCES ROLE:

Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Communications, the role will be the day-to-day lead of Somerset House’s marketing activity for the cultural programme (including Somerset House Studios and Inclusive Talent), destination and placemaking, and the residents (Home of Cultural Innovators).
This will include responsibility for the campaign strategy, building and fostering audiences and day-to-day operation of the Marketing team within the Trust. Key metrics include driving visitor numbers, segmenting current audience groups and building new audience segments whilst also elevating the communication and awareness of the brand.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

You will work with the Director of Marketing & Communications and the wider marketing team to define data and evidence-based marketing strategies to build Somerset House’s brand as Home of Cultural Innovators to:

  • Lead marketing campaigns
  • Content Strategy
  • On-site Marketing & Placemaking
  • Insight, Reporting and Evaluation
  • Lead and develop the Marketing team and external suppliers
