Description:
WORKING FOR OUR ORGANISATION
Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals have an exciting opportunity for a senior Registered Nurse in possession of significant surgical experience to lead the Surgery and Endoscopy Directorate. You will be part of the leadership triumvirate for the Directorate as part of Planned Care Division.
Working alongside the senior nursing and broader MDT, you will provide high quality, strategic, professional, operational, visible nursing leadership; advising and supporting on directorate issues.
We are seeking someone with drive and experience to deliver the nursing strategy; someone with a passion for delivering the highest clinical standards of care and an appreciation of the value of respect and multidisciplinary teamwork.
Current projects include further development of quality and governance across the division and development of a new emergency hospital, including surgical wards and endoscopy units.
Mature leadership skills are essential to ensure the multi-disciplinary workforce is well supported to respond effectively to current NHS challenges. Applicants should be able to demonstrate success in delivering effective, safe, cost-efficient services in a complex healthcare environment, including staff management, financial, risk and change management.

Responsibilities:
MAIN DUTIES OF THE JOB
- Responsible for the operational management and delivery of services in the clinical services as part of the divisional DMT and provide clinical leadership to both clinical and support services.
- Provide strong professional and managerial leadership to the general and specialist nursing teams, working collaboratively with Allied Health Professionals to ensure high quality standards of care, clinical governance, effectiveness, delivering on key national and local performance targets.
- Engage with service transformation across the directorate and deliver and lead effective partnership working with all health and social care providers, multidisciplinary team and other organisations
- To maximise productivity using effective models to increase efficiency.
- To ensure patient experience is high quality, inspiring patient and public confidence and all patients are treated with compassion, dignity and respect.
- Deputise for the Associate Director of Nursing or Director of Nursing on professional leadership matters
- Lead on the development, delivery and embedding of nursing revalidation for nurses across the directorate, including setting up monitoring structures.
- To accept delegated responsibility for quality improvement and patient safety leading on quality initiatives in conjunction with the DMT.
- Lead on delivery of the patient experience agenda and provide regular reporting on quality measures across the directorate
