Description:

Everlaw is seeking a Head of People Strategy & Programs, reporting directly to our VP of People. You’ll help Everlaw’s People Team set the strategy and design programmatic solutions that drive both performance and engagement across the employee journey that will contribute meaningfully to our mission of promoting justice by illuminating truth. You’ll set your own bar for a high impact function by distilling complex, cross-functional business challenges into strategic programs that power the success of both our business and our people. You’ll be committed to embedding diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) best practices into the creation and deployment of our people strategy and programs.
At Everlaw, our mission is to promote justice by illuminating truth. Our company culture is open and vibrant and we’re committed to the professional growth of our team members, offering an annual learning and development stipend and regular check-ins with managers regarding career goals. If you’re looking for a place that values passion, integrity, thinking big, and a desire to learn, we’d love to hear from you! Think you’re missing some of the skills and are hesitant to apply? We do not believe in the ‘perfect’ candidate and encourage you to apply if you feel you can bring value to our team. Learn more about Life at Everlaw.
This is a full-time exempt position based in our Oakland, California office with a hybrid work schedule: in office M/W/Th with the option to work from home Tu/Fr.

ABOUT YOU

  • You are a top-notch first principles problem solver, who can break down complex challenges or broad goals into a clear, effective strategy that allows us to continuously improve engagement and performance across the Everlaw team.
  • You have at least 8 years of relevant experience designing and executing scalable programs and processes end-to-end with great results; while we don’t expect any candidate to be an expert in every dimension of the employee journey, we are looking for evidence that you will excel in designing programs such as performance management, compensation, Learning & Development, and our DEIB roadmap.
  • You show an ability to proactively build relationships at all levels of an organization to ‘bring people along’ in your strategy; you are comfortable working with all team members and demonstrate the ability to challenge current thinking while maintaining a strong and productive relationship.
  • You have outstanding verbal and written communication skills, delivered at scale; you are able to design communications from information sessions to policies in an organization spanning multiple geographies and nearly 500 team members.
  • You have the strong quantitative and analytical skills required to own our People analytics and compensation functions, clearly communicate insights and generate actions, and evaluate the effectiveness of our programs to drive continuous improvement.
  • You are passionate about embedding Everlaw’s commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) in all aspects of our people programs.
  • You have a demonstrated ability to lead an inspired, high performing, and highly accountable team.
  • You have strong business acumen to complement your experience in the people function; prior experience in strategy-focused, quantitative business role (e.g., management consulting) is a plus.
  • You are authorized to work in the United States. Please note that currently, Everlaw is not sponsoring employment visas.

If you’re looking for a place that values passion, integrity, and a desire to learn, we’d love to hear from you!
About Everlaw
We help law firms, government agencies, and corporations sift through millions of documents of evidence in big lawsuits and investigations to find the proverbial smoking gun (or needle in the haystack - pick your metaphor). It’s a multi-billion dollar space typically dominated by service-oriented vendors, and we’re coming at it with cutting-edge technology and elegant design. It’s working, and we’ve been growing very rapidly: we host hundreds of terabytes of data and work with all 50 state Attorneys General and hundreds of law firms on some of the most high-profile cases litigated today.
Everlaw is an equal opportunity employer. We pride ourselves on having a diverse workforce and we do not discriminate against any employee or applicant because of race, creed, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, national origin, disability, age, genetic information, veteran status, marital status, pregnancy or related condition, or any other basis protected by law. We respect the gender, gender identity and gender expression of our applicants and employees, and we honor requests for pronouns. It is our policy to comply with all applicable national, state and local laws pertaining to nondiscrimination and equal opportunity, including the California Equal Pay Act. Pursuant to the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance, we will consider for employment qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records.

Responsibilities:

  • Build, scale, and continuously improve employee programs that help our teams and business thrive: You’ll own critical programs focused on accelerating performance and engagement across our team. This includes performance management, compensation, training programs (including new hire orientation and manager training), programs that increase connection and inclusion (such as ERG program management and social events), as well as people analytics.
  • Ensure equitable, inclusive program design and execution across the employee journey: The programs you’ll drive have a profound impact on the career growth and day-to-day experiences of all team members. We are excited for this role to intentionally embed equitable, inclusive approaches that support the retention and advancement of Everlawyers from a wide variety of backgrounds and identities.
  • Partner and communicate across all levels of the organization: In this role, you’ll be expected to build strong buy-in across all levels of the organization as you seek to understand needs, communicate our program strategy, and drive adoption. You will proactively partner with key stakeholders to ensure programs embody our Core Values and align to the needs of our business.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team of 5 to deliver exceptional results that impact all Everlawyers!
