POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES

The role is accountable for:

  • Supporting the General Counsel in the development and maintenance of the corporate insurance program
  • Oversight over the risk taxonomy areas of strategic risk, insurance risk and financial risk, through engagement with key stakeholders in Finance and other key areas
  • Development and maintenance of the Operational Risk Management Framework, including the areas of risk/control/control self-assessment/assurance, issue management, incident management, KRIs, scenario analysis and any other operational risk framework areas, with a focus on simple, effective and efficient approach to operational risk for the Group
  • Delivering advisory support to the business in respect to third parties, process, and fraud risks
  • Development and maintenance of the business continuity framework, including the crisis management plan (being the role of crisis support), business impact assessment, business continuity plan, business continuity testing, and reporting of outcomes to the relevant Committees; and supporting the embedding of these elements across the business
  • Development and maintenance of the risk in change framework; focused on embedding the activity across the business and working with IT, IT security, Procurement, and Privacy for their respective assessments in one simple to execute process
  • Performing oversight of information technology risks as the 2nd line, including any relevant frameworks, reporting and advisory elements that ensure a robust risk and control environment in technology
  • Delivering monitoring and oversight over operational risks, including reporting and insights that provide management and the Board with information to better manage operational risk
  • Supporting the Senior Assurance Manager with the scope, SME support, testing support and reporting on operational risk assurance matters; this includes the development of the operational risk components of the assurance plan for the central assurance team to lead
  • Preparing and delivering operational risk education and awareness, so we embed operational risk across the Group

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • At least 7 years insurance operations experience, with audit, accountancy, risk or actuarial experience coupled with a relevant tertiary education.
  • Experience in the general Insurance industry is highly regarded.
  • Experience with risk management systems.
  • Strong leadership and engagement skills, with the ability to manage SME experts the A&G way.
  • Strong communication, influencing and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to build effective relationships with senior managers and other key stakeholders.
  • High impact presentation skills, demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to think strategically.

Responsibilities:

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The purpose of the role is to support the General Manager Risk and Assurance with a robust operational risk management framework and approach that delivers business capability and embedment in managing risk, including advisory support, oversight & monitoring, and insights through reporting on the operational (excluding compliance) risks for the Group.
