Description:
Lingvano’s mission is to break down language barriers and build bridges between Deaf and hearing people. We do so by creating easy-to-use sign language and Deaf culture lessons.
As we near a team size of 25, we are now looking for a People lead to take ownership over our HR and people initiatives and support our continued expansion. If you have experience in managing a People/HR function, want your work to have a real and meaningful social impact, and want to play a big role in shaping a growing company culture, we’ve got the job for you! You will report to our CEO and will be entrusted to build out our HR department.
Tasks
- Take ownership over company People/HR topics, including recruiting, onboarding, training, performance evaluation, people development, compliance, and culture building.
- As the main point of contact for HR questions, support and provide guidance to managers on topics such as HR law, people management, career planning, and employee wellbeing.
- Develop and implement People/HR policies and programs that align with the company goals and objectives.
- Ensure legal and regulatory compliance across the company.
- Work with the CEO and other team heads to attract and retain top talent by developing a full-cycle recruitment processes.
- Work with our Executive Assistant to plan and execute employee engagement initiatives, including events, employee recognition programs, and social activities.
Requirements
- You are passionate about peoples’ wellbeing and professional development!
- You have a background in People/HR, with at least 5 years of experience working in a People/HR function.
- You have experience working in People/HR at a startup or scaleup company.
- You have at least 2 years of experience as an HR or People manager.
- You have exceptional interpersonal skills, and the ability to establish productive working relationships, build trust, and effectively communicate policies across all levels of an organization.
- You have a demonstrated success in recruiting top talent in a startup environment. Experience recruiting in the US market is a big plus.
- You are fluent in English. German and any sign language proficiency are a plus.

This position is open to 20-40 hours per week to start. We are fully open to someone beginning part-time with a more concentrated set of responsibilities, and then transitioning to add more hours and responsibilities later on. This job is based in Vienna and open to begin immediately; our Vienna location is a firm requirement, but if you cannot start immediately we still encourage you to apply. The gross minimum salary based on 40 hours per week is €60,000 per year. Depending on your qualifications and experience, a higher salary is possible. Exceptional candidates have the chance for an individual performance-based compensation package.
