BASIS Chengdu
The BASIS International/Bilingual Chengdu campus opened its doors in August 2022, with international and bilingual students housed on one site. There is an overall capacity for 1900 students, and boarding facilities on-site. The impressive campus covers an area of about 88,000 m2, with an auditorium, a library, a black-box theatre, a cafeteria, a gymnasium, and two sports fields with running tracks of 200-300 metres. Teaching facilities include standard classrooms, specialised classrooms for labs, fine arts, music, etc.
Living and Working in Chengdu
Although one of China’s less explored cities - Chengdu is a key economic hub in southwest China, with a population of 14 million, including 14,000 ex-pats working for a variety of companies, including Intel, Toyota, Microsoft, and various international schools. Requirements and Responsibilities
Highly focused on academic outcomes, the Head of Primary is responsible for establishing student support programmes that lead to exceptional student outcomes. Through elevated expectations of student capabilities and a willingness to ensure that all students have the support they need to be successful, this person will take a data driven approach to assessing the needs of the students and allocating the resources needed to enhance the students’ educational experience.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate primary academic programmes to support students in situations relating to social integration in/out of the classroom
  • Instruct teachers on child development best practices
  • Create procedures for extreme behaviour occurrences
  • Monitor parent communications
  • Manage parent expectations
  • Create procedures for collecting or organising substitute plans and recruiting Teachers and Teaching Fellows for substitute duty, which the Curriculum Coordinator then manages

Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s preferred
  • 3-5 years experience in an educational setting
  • Administrative experience in an educational setting preferred
  • Open to new ideas in teaching.
  • Knowledgeable, passionate, and believe in transforming education.
  • Able to motivate students to reach their highest potential while also elevating own skills through peer collaboration and a culture where learning is of the utmost importance.
  • Being a brand new school, flexibility is important, as are strong relationship-building skills and the ability to build a strong school community.

  • Competitive: Salaries for teaching roles are approximately $55-65k USD per annum (360-420k RMB), more for leadership roles
