Set the strategic roadmap & vision for Range & Space

As the Head of Range Curation & Space Optimisation, you will partner with our merchandise leadership team, brand leadership team, buying team and other cross functional business units across Endeavour to develop & deliver an end-to-end range curation and space optimisation strategy.
Thought leadership, support, guidance and coaching will be critical to deliver against the ambition of creating product ranges that are tailored to our customers across our store and digital networks whilst also delivering this through the lens of effective commercial and cost management.

Here is a taster of what you can expect in this role:

  • Develop and be accountable for the long term vision, strategy & execution of the end-to-end Endeavour Range Curation and space optimisation strategy; aligned to our brand(s) and category strategies and using deep customer insights.
  • Lead the ranging program across Endeavour aligned to brand and category strategies, in particular driving range localisation, productivity efficiencies and analytics rigour in everything we do.
  • Drive transformational programmes to optimise our offer through AI and other tools driven by customer needs whilst also managing end to end cost efficiencies.
  • Lead and manage the complex business change required by creating buy-in and support to a collective vision and defining the transition plan and approach to ensure that the transformation is realised in the most effective way.
  • Provide high impact, visible thought leadership and influence across Endeavour Group up to EXCO level that is customer and data centric and with a partnership mindset.
  • Collaborate on wider transformation efforts including merchandising transformation team, format development and operations to ensure that there is alignment on the business change required to deliver the transformation.
  • Role model partnering across Endeavour, ensuring initiatives and the category development schedule are scoped, resourced and orchestrated end to end, including an aligned partnership with Technology and AA to unlock the tools and systems required to deliver the strategy roadmap.
  • Accountable for the end to end process of range curation and space optimisation from insight through to execution; leveraging all customer data and insights that create ranges that delight our customers.
  • Ensure capacity planning and workload management of category development schedule including milestones, dependencies and activities within a range review; Supporting team in breaking down workload to regularly identify risks, develop strategies to mitigate, and influence outcomes.
  • Establish progress tracking, reporting, impacts across customer, team and financial metrics for ranging initiatives and category reviews to enable decision making and appropriate allocation of resources based on cost vs benefit assessment.
  • Set performance and ways of working standards across the Range Curation & Space Optimisation team; building commitment to business strategies, direction and role clarity for the team.

Qualifications

Now let’s talk about you:

  • Experience (10+ years) partnering with senior stakeholders to develop optimised space and range operational teams with the ability to deliver end to end change management activities, including strategy, planning, and implementation.
  • Proven experience (6+ years) coaching leaders and managers in range planning and insights. Proficient in space planning suite, Blue Yonder preferred.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills paired with your drive to continuously improve our customers shopping experience, category performance results and keeping maintenance simple for our stores
  • Highly experienced in large, complex transformations, preferably leveraging capabilities across an organisation
  • Tertiary qualifications, preferably in business
  • Strong influencing, stakeholder relationship and communication skills
  • Acute business acumen and understanding of commercial fundamentals - particularly across business units and functions
  • Highly organised; detail focussed and have proven experience delivering multiple projects at once
  • You enjoy leading cross-functional teams; you get things done through influencing skills and credibility rather than relying on hierarchy and reporting lines
  • A well developed understanding of leveraging customer insights to derive a plan
  • You’ll have a great understanding of retail, with buying and/or operational experience
  • Experience in Agile working desirable
