Description:

HEAD OF SCHOOL- BUSINESS, TOURISM & HOSPITALITY AND ENGLISH LANGUAGE

In this role, you will report directly to the Executive Dean of the Faculty of Commerce and Technology. Your responsibilities will encompass management and leadership of lecturers and support staff within the School of Business, Tourism, and Hospitality and the English Language Centre across campuses in Hawke’s Bay, Tairāwhiti, and Auckland.
Building upon the School’s current strong standing, you will continue the positive momentum established by the previous Head of School while infusing your own innovative thinking to propel the school forward. EIT Te Pūkenga offers a dynamic learning environment with over 150 qualifications ranging from certificates and diplomas to degrees and postgraduate programs across campuses in Hawke’s Bay, Tairāwhiti (Gisborne), and Auckland. Joining our vibrant learning community at one of New Zealand’s premier tertiary institutes, you will take on a full-time permanent position as the Head of School – Business, Tourism & Hospitality, and English Language based at our Hawkes Bay Campus.

OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • A relevant qualification (Master’s or equivalent would be an advantage) or equivalent level of knowledge.
  • Proven experience in leadership and management.
  • Knowledge and experience of curriculum and programme development within undergraduate and postgraduate Computing education frameworks.
  • Knowledge and experience in working with international partners, and in particular the delivery of programmes in China.
  • An understanding of the principles of cultural safety, a commitment to the development of a culturally safe working and learning environment, and a commitment to parity of student success.
  • An appreciation of te reo me ōna tikanga Māori.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and implementation of the School of Business, Tourism & Hospitality, and English Language Annual Plan, achieving performance targets and objectives, as designated.
  • Negotiate with the Executive Dean for resources necessary to fulfil School objectives and targets domestically and internationally.
  • Monitor and manage income, operational and staffing expenses, and resources in accordance with faculty targets.
  • In association with the Assistant Head of School, Auckland Campus Director, Programme Leader, and Programme Coordinators, develop programme delivery plans that are consistent with programme aims, philosophy, curricular approach, policies, and procedures.
  • Provide coordinated leadership and support for academic staff members and students in all undergraduate and postgraduate Computing programmes.
  • Build and maintain excellent relationships with external stakeholders.
