My client is a very large private family owned Australian business with significant operations in NZ. Having been founded back in 1956, this business is well established and is an enviable position in their industry, seen as a dominant market leading force. The NZ business has size and scale and is now looking for Head of Shared Services to report to a dynamic and driven CFO.

YOUR PROFILE:

To be considered for this role, we are looking for an experienced Head of Shared Services who has previous experience in running large teams across multiple disciplines in the financial administration and transactional processing functions. We are looking for an individual who can demonstrate the following attributes:

  • Has an inherit drive for results with an ability to influence those around him/her
  • Has strong business acumen, understanding inter-relationships within large business structures and is aware of emerging business trends
  • Strong proven staff leadership and development skills
  • An ability to communicate effectively to influence others
  • Customer focus mindset with an ability to handle difficult customers/situations comfortably to get resolutions effectively.
  • Has a can do attitude, a sense of urgency and an eye for detail
  • Proven negotiating and influencing skills where you are able to demonstrate the ability to have positive outcomes
  • A strong systems bent
  • A team player who is collaborative and inclusive in style

This is a complex business with high transaction volumes. The CFO has joined this company early 2024 and is now looking for someone who will roll up the sleeves, get involved in this business and is dynamic in the way they think and act. Responsibilities:

THE ROLE

The Head of Shared Services role will be reporting directly to the CFO wo is well known for transformational, acquisition and driving best practice. The purpose of this role is to manage and oversee the development of best practice and standardisation of financial administration and transactional processing functions across the business units of the NZ entity. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Lead, manage and develop a team of circa 20 staff in this area, ensuring a positive team culture with open co-operation and communication
  • Oversee the customer invoicing functions, across business units, partnering with Department heads to streamline and standardise customer invoicing processes
  • Liaise and partner with IT partners to ensure accurate and complete data is captured and effectively managed
  • Oversee the payables and receivables functions, reception and office administration/reception functions
  • Ensure training and development of staff is undertaken where necessary to maintain knowledge and skills for competent performance
  • Identify opportunities that will streamlined processes and drive out costs from the business to aid the growth of profitability
  • Be an active member of the Finance team leading projects to ensure budgets are met
  • Manage workloads and ensure use of external consultants is minimised and external resources time is properly utilised.
  • Manage customer relations to achieve quality outcomes
  • Provide consistent and timely advice, and support to the business as required on all payroll matters
  • Foster an environment of continuous improvement by challenging existing ways of doing business and investigating new opportunities for improvements
  • Ensure a strong framework of internal controls and systems
  • Other ad hoc duties as required.
