The Head of Department for the Department of Vector Biology is a senior leadership role at LSTM. Reporting to the Deputy Director, you will provide strategic and visionary leadership across the department and join the executive decision-making body of the institute. You will operationalise the strategy for the Department of Vector Biology, which aligns with the wider school strategy that seeks to improve health outcomes in disadvantaged populations globally, through partnership in research and education. You will have a robust understanding of global health, empowering you to drive growth, whilst promoting a culture of research excellence and innovation, and establishing strong partnerships to address public and global health challenges in low- and middle-income countries.
The successful candidate will be a recognised leading authority in a discipline relevant to the Department of Vector Biology coupled with an international reputation for outstanding research including a track record consisting of significant publications, sustained research engagement, and a continued dedication to education and equitable partnerships. In addition, you will excel in fostering interdisciplinary research initiatives, cultivating a positive research culture, securing external funding, and building partnerships with industry, government, and international organisations.
A deep understanding of health challenges and research priorities, both nationally and globally, along with a forward-looking vision for the future of improving health outcomes is critical.
