IF YOU HAVE:

  • Significant experience operating within wholesale energy markets, supported by a deep understanding of energy procurement strategies, processes and contract management.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading multidisciplinary teams providing analytical and commercial functions.
  • In depth understanding of energy pricing principles, tariff design and key factors influencing consumer energy demand.
  • Superior communication (written and verbal), negotiation and consultation skills, including the ability to interact effectively with people at different levels, sometimes with competing objectives.
  • Proven ability to develop energy market policies, processes and systems to manage obligations, drive commercial outcomes and manage risk.
  • Experience in a senior role, making strategic recommendations to Executive and Board.
  • Tertiary qualifications in economics, business, commerce, maths, or engineering or equivalent.
  • Experience working in heavily regulated industries and proven ability to quickly understand the relevant Federal and State/Territory legislation, instruments, policies and supporting regulations and codes.

Responsibilities:

We are looking for someone to lead Jacana Energy’s Wholesale function, leading and managing Jacana Energy’s wholesale electricity purchasing function including the assessment, structuring and management of commercially viable wholesale contracts, and pricing of existing and new wholesale energy products. The successful candidate will manage and develop the pricing and contracts management capability within the commercial function, including risk management of wholesale products. In addition, you will provide compliance and regulatory support to drive strategic outcomes. And finally, you will also lead the analytics function.

  • Day to day leadership of the wholesale team and energy portfolio, including executing transactions in accordance with the internal risk and operational frameworks, and prudently managing bi-lateral contracts.
  • Manage Jacana Energy’s environmental obligations including Renewable Energy Target liabilities with the Clean Energy Regulator.
  • Lead the conception, development, analysis, structuring and execution of strategic wholesale opportunities and activities.
  • Provide functional input into the development and review of wholesale risk and pricing policies and the development of appropriate tools to manage these risks.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of forecasting models for wholesale drivers and costs and input into business planning activities.
  • Lead and represent Jacana Energy in energy market reform initiatives, regulatory forums and other relevant energy market initiatives.
  • Develop strategic stakeholder relationships within the NT and the industry to drive better outcomes for Jacana Energy and its customers.
