As a member of the Auckland Distribution Centre team and reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring all team members and visitors at all sites operate in a safe and productive environment. The role is critical to driving a positive and engaging safety culture that is legislatively compliant while driving continuous improvement. No two days will be the same in this varied role
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the observance of the company’s human resources and safety policies (including all applicable NZ laws and Regulations relating to occupational health and safety).
- Assist to coordinate the site return to work programs.
- Responsible for ensuring a proactive approach to Safe Work Practices on site and ensuring timely completion of all Safety Checklists within site.
- Submits all required Safety KPI and activity records via scheduled reporting process.
- Maintains the formal Risk Assessment and Hazard Analysis program which schedules and delivers corrective actions where appropriate.
- Support site incident investigation process; ensuring timely communication with all stakeholders.
- Responsible for ensuring suitable actions are implemented to address issues identified via Safety and Environment Checklists and Audits.
- Support the DC to ensure that workers are trained appropriately as per Health and Safety standards, including maintenance of training records, and scheduling of training. Provide general safety training on site via toolbox and formal training session when necessary.
- Work with temp agencies to ensure workers coming on site understand the nature of the work and are fit to carry out the required tasks and that incident management practices are consistent and up to GPC standard.
- Inspires the team to focus on safety culture development.
What you need to be successful:
- NZ Certificate of Workplace Health & Safety Level 3 or equivalent qualification or at least 5 years’ experience in a similar role.
- Demonstrated experience in safety in a large-scale semi-automated Distribution Centre
- ACC trained Injury Management Coordinator is desirable.
- Knowledge and experience in the storage and transportation of Hazardous and Dangerous goods
- Experience with assisting in conducting training & inductions, reporting of injuries, incidents and proven excellence in KPI reporting.
- Experience in distribution or logistics would be well regarded.
