Description:

Home Hardware is looking for a Director, Health and Safety to join our Supply Chain team. Reporting to the Vice President, Distribution, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of health and safety within our organization by developing and implementing national strategies to promote a culture that reinforces our organizational commitment to safety.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership, direction and coaching to the national Health & Safety Team (H&S Team) while meeting legal compliance requirements.
  • Lead the H&S Team in the development, review, maintenance, and training of health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Oversee the assessment of all sources of risk with the support of the H&S Team. Identify and establish priority concerns and oversee risk mitigation efforts in partnership with appropriate stakeholders.
  • Design and implement a national strategy to ensure regular inspections and audits of facilities, equipment, documentation, and processes. Develop tools and processes to identify potential hazards and implement appropriate controls to mitigate risks.
  • Oversee investigations process and supporting programs related to accidents, injuries, near misses, and occupational illnesses to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Oversee the site-specific emergency preparedness strategies, including the development and implementation of emergency response plans, evacuation procedures, first aid protocols, and crisis management strategies.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership, department heads, and external stakeholders to address health and safety concerns, solicit feedback, and drive organizational adoption of safety initiatives.
  • Develop and manage the health and safety budget, including resource allocation, cost forecasting, and expenditure tracking.
  • Analyze health and safety data and key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify trends, areas for improvement, and opportunities to enhance safety performance.
