The Role
As the Health & Safety Surface Lead, you will be responsible for overseeing health and safety activities for the surface areas of the Snowy 2.0 Project. This role will involve leading a team of health and safety professionals, ensuring safety protocols and procedures are implemented, conducting assurance activities, and promoting a culture of safety with the Principal Contractor.

Responsibilities include:

  • Leading and mentoring a team of health and safety professionals, providing guidance, support and training to ensure the Principal Contractor is in compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Supporting and embedding the HSE Strategy.
  • Ensuring the Principal Contractor has implemented management measures which meet the safety obligations of the project and that management measures are being implemented across all surface areas for the project.
  • Reviewing and monitoring the Principal Contractor documentation against project requirements and obligations including but not limited to reviewing contractor safety management plans and related sub-plans and procedures.
  • Conducting regular surface area inspections.
  • Reviewing incident investigations and root cause analyses, ensuring developed corrective and preventive actions will mitigate future risk.
  • Monitor and track safety throughout the project, encouraging active participation and engagement from all team members.
  • Building proactive, collaborative and cooperative relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders, to encourage innovation and ensure best practice safety management systems.

You’ll Bring To The Team:
A Diploma level qualification in Work Health and Safety or a related field, complemented by certification in Safety Management System Auditing. Your background will showcase hands-on experience in safety roles, specifically focusing on surface activities within the construction or infrastructure sector. You’ll exhibit expertise in risk management, including a proven track record in implementing programs for Fatality Prevention, Major Hazards, and Critical Control. With a solid foundation in health and safety management, exemplary leadership skills, and a genuine passion for cultivating safe work environments, you’ll make a valuable addition to our team.
