Description:
The Endoscopy Decontamination Department works to supply clinical and surgical specialties with safe, quality-assured medical devices and products; and in accordance with the policies and procedures of the service are committed to improving health by putting patients at the centre of excellent specialist care.
The post holder will work under direction both within a team and as an individual to assist in the receiving of unprocessed reusable medical/surgical devices from theatres, wards, and clinics; and in the processing and supply of high quality decontaminated instrument to customers across the Trust within agreed timescales and in accordance with written standards.
The post holder will undertake a Trust Induction, and will receive departmental induction and training appropriate to the activities he or she will undertake.
Contract Details: One full time and one part time post available
The Endoscopy Decontamination Department is a JAG accredited department that comply with the HTMO6 which maintains the highest standards of quality and service delivery for the decontamination needs of the Hospital Trust. Contribute to the smooth running of the define area. Assist in meeting service delivery targets.

- The ability to demonstrate dexterity and ability to work in a methodical and systematic manner
- Attention to detail
- Ability to work in a busy production facility with tight deadlines whilst maintaining high standards in all aspects of work
- Basic knowledge of standard range of Microsoft Office Programmes
- Educated to GCSE Level or equivalent Grade C English, or equivalent (e.g. National Adult Certificate Level 2 Literacy) and Mathematics Grade D or equivalent (e.g. National Adult Certificate Level 1 Numeracy)
- Good communication skills both written and verbal
- Ability to work on own initiative, independently and as part of a team
- Ability to work under instruction, quickly and accurately
- Ability to demonstrate a customer focused approach and respond to the demands from the customer and service users to meet their critical requirements

The JAG accredited Endoscopy Units at Cheltenham General Hospital and Gloucestershire Royal Hospital are busy nurse-led units that serve as both a Regional Endoscopy Training Centre, National Bowel Cancer Screening Centre, and South West Endoscopy Training Academy. In addition to this, the unit encompasses a purpose built endoscope decontamination area. The unit handles emergency procedures as well as caring for routine inpatients/outpatients. In addition to this, the unit also have specialist lists including: ERCP, Peg Insertion, Endoscopic Mucosal Resection, Enteroscopy, Complex Polyp lists, Bronchoscopy, and Thoracoscopy.
