Description:
The job is based in the Acute dialysis unit in BRI.
The candidate will have to support the vascular access nurse and the renal team with procedures like tunneled line or temporary line insertion .
The candidate will have to assist the vascular access nurse and the renal team with vascular access removal.
The candidate will also have to opportunity to learn clinical skill like terminating patient’s dialysis session with the supervision of a nurse.
The candidate will have a better understanding of the vascular access and patient with kidney failure and needing renal replacement therapy
Support the renal team and the vascular access nurse with procedures ( tunneled line insertion, temporary line insertion and tunneled line removal)
Supporting and assisting individual patients during the procedures
documentation of all procedures
Support the nursing staff where possible
Assist individual patients with elements of basic nursing care and the implementation of care under the direction of a qualified nurse.
Contribute to the ongoing support of patients and their relatives.
Assist with obtaining, transmitting, and storing information related to the delivery of a care service. See section regarding Respect for Patient Confidentiality below.
Assist and enable patients to maintain and improve their mobility.
Assist and contribute to the movement and treatment of patients to achieve physical comfort and minimise the adverse effects of pressure according to the prescription of care. Report areas of concern to qualified staff.
Assist individual patients with activities of daily living according to individual needs including personal hygiene, appearance, oral care, fluid and dietary intake.
Develop an understanding of individual patient needs in relation to dietary regimes and fluid intake.
Assist patients to minimise discomfort and pain according to the prescription of care
Participate in clerical duties as required.
Patient escort to and return from X-Ray
Any other clinical skills required subject to training and competency

The main responsibility of this role is to assist the renal doctors and the vascular access nurse with procedures like tunneled line insertion, temporary line insertion and tunneled line removal. Also the successful candidate will be taught how to do all the documentation when a procedure is carried out.
Also the appointed candidate will be taught clinical tasks like taking observation for patient while on haemodialysis, terminating patient’s dialysis treatment, assist patient with feeding, daily activity of living.
Furthermore, candidate will have a better insight of the renal replacement therapy
