KEY REQUIREMENTS

To thrive in this role, you must possess excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, as well as the capability to collaborate effectively within a team and fulfil duties at peripheral clinics when necessary.

  • Registered Psychologist with a current NZ practicing certificate
  • Comprehensive Psychologist assessment and treatment skills
  • Clinical experience in working with individuals with chronic health conditions
  • Proficient in evidence based practice

We would also consider applicants who have health improvement practitioner (HIP) and/or counselling experience and are:

  • Fully registered under the Health Practitioner Competence Assurance (HPCA) Act 2003 with a scope of practice that is appropriate to working as a mental health and addiction clinician e.g. nurse, psychologist, psychotherapist, occupational therapist; OR
  • A fully registered alcohol and drug and/or gambling practitioner member of the Drug and Alcohol Addiction Practitioners’ Association Aotearoa – New Zealand (DAPAANZ); OR
  • A fully registered Social Worker; OR
  • A full member of the New Zealand Association of Counsellors (NZAC)

Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE

We have an exciting opportunity in the Specialist Diabetes Service to work as a Registered Psychologist at Whangarei Hospital. This role is a permanent, part time position working 20 hours per week between 8.00am and 4.30pm, Monday to Friday.
In this position, you will deliver a proficient and streamlined psychological evaluation and therapy to individuals facing challenges that hinder their capacity to attain optimal functioning and well-being within the Specialist Diabetes Service.

This purpose of this role is to:

  • Provide professional client-centred psychological practice to patients and their whānau/families
  • Liaise with the wider hospital in order to meet the patient and whānau needs
  • Be an effective team member
  • Complete and update records and data within a timely manner
