Desired skills and experience

  • Master’s Degree in Health Economics or relevant subject
  • Extensive, hands-on experience with making and supporting HTA submissions in Ireland
  • 5+ years’ experience in a Health Economics role in the pharmaceutical industry
  • Experience with evidence synthesis, economic modelling and real-world evidence generation
  • High level of numeracy and attention to detail; capable of detailed analysis and interpretation of data
  • Deep understanding of the Irish health system and national level stakeholders; a network of contacts in place, and the ability to expand this network as required
  • An excellent communicator, capable of absorbing and summarizing complex issues, using clear written communication tailored to the audience. Your presentation skills will be crisp and compelling, and you will be confident engaging with senior internal and external stakeholders.
  • Highly innovative in your approach, willing to challenge the status quo and be able to demonstrate an absolute focus on streamlining processes, and removing barriers to delivery
  • Experience in a rapid-response environment, managing competing demands within tight deadlines. You will be comfortable working autonomously while remaining connected with multiple cross-functional teams and leaders in a matrix organization
  • Experience and willingness of working in a dynamic, lean environmen

Responsibilities:

The Health Economics, Access Strategy and Pricing Lead, Ireland plays a pivotal role in ensuring Irish patients are able to benefit from BMS’ innovative therapies. You will work as the primary person responsible for market access in Ireland, working with key external decision makers and payors, to secure optimum reimbursement for our medicines. You will use your deep experience to build compelling value propositions and navigate successfully this complex and evolving access landscape. Reporting to the Executive Director, Market Access & External Affairs UK & Ireland, you will operate across our industry-leading pipeline including in oncology, haematology, immunology and cardiovascular disease.

Key responsibilities

  • Act as a leading expert on the Irish market, informing commercial strategy and brand planning activities for optimal launch readiness
  • Develop pricing and access strategy for all BMS medicines in Ireland, in conjunction with UK and WW Pricing colleagues
  • Lead all HTA submissions to NCPE, working collaboratively with key internal partners and external agencies to develop required inputs
  • Maintain excellent relationships across all key external agencies including NCPE, CPU and wider HSE to support ongoing cooperation, horizon scanning and system preparedness
  • Prepare for the implementation of EU HTA Regulation and the first Joint Clinical Assessment in 2025, monitoring this evolving landscape and aligning with internal coordinating groups to ensure preparedness
  • Advise the Ireland Country Lead and broader business on developments in the external landscape and support their deployment and engagement with key stakeholders
  • Support liaison and contracting with external stakeholders e.g. PCRS hospital rebates / Private Insurers contracts / UDD Database / IPU updates / IRP annual realignment, etc.
  • Where appropriate, work with IPHA sub-groups to enhance company profile and amplify BMS voice
  • Ensure robust budget management and detailed record-keeping
