Description:
The Health Informatics Specialist II within the IIS Interoperability Group performs routine (journey-level) data analysis work as assigned by the IIS Interoperability Postproduction Team Manager. Work involves data analysis and reporting of immunization data and refining analytical processes in support of Texas’ Immunization programs which includes the Texas Vaccines for Children (TVFC) and Adult Safety Net (ASN). Consults and provides expert technical assistance and guidance to program staff within the DSHS central and regional offices, local health departments, other governmental agencies, Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and other stakeholders. Recommends and develops processes for implementing tracking, reporting, and analysis of Texas immunization data. Manages data projects relevant to the Immunization Section and the IIS Interoperability Group. Works under general supervision with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgement.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS ABILITIES:
Extensive PC skills including Microsoft Word, Excel (including VBA), Access, PowerPoint, Outlook, SQL, SAS, and other relevant software applications.
Knowledge of health Informatics and health IT.
Knowledge of data exchange and systems design.
Knowledge of relevant IIS standards, including HL7 2.x and SOAP/Web Services.
Knowledge of database management, data analysis, and reporting.
Knowledge of business analysis.
Knowledge of public health reporting standards.
