Description:
Act as one of the Trusts competent persons for health and safety in accordance with the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 Provide advice and guidance to managers on all health and safety issues. Support the Health and Safety Manager when developing, reviewing and implementing the Trusts Health and Safety policy, associated guidance documents and safe systems of work. Undertake accident, incident and near miss investigations and to identify potential gaps or lessons learned. Support the Legal Team in the investigation and management of public liability claims when required.
Regularly undertake health and safety inspections and audits and prepare relevant reports on findings. Respond to day-to-day health and safety issues and escalate significant issues and actions taken to the Health and Safety Manager Assist in ensuring sound risk management procedures and hazard identification systems are in place. Drive a positive health and safety culture throughout the Trust. Work closely with staff to support the review of risk assessments to ensure they are suitable and sufficient and meet the Trust Standard Develop and deliver health and safety information, instruction and training as appropriate.
Contribute to the effective use of Datix including the management of risk registers and assessments. Interrogate health and safety accident and incident data to identify trends and areas where further investigation may be required. Contribute to performance improvement, taking a lead for identified areas as determined by the Health and Safety Manager Prepare health and safety reports as and when required. You may occasionally be asked to undertake such other duties that are deemed necessary in order to support business continuity within the Trust.
