Description:

PORTWEST, a leading global manufacturer of safety wear, workwear and PPE is currently seeking applications for the position of Health, Safety and Compliance Manager based in our warehouse and distribution centre in Thurnscoe, Rotherham. Portwest is one of the fastest growing workwear companies in the world currently employing over 4600 staff worldwide, with customer service staff in over 130 countries. We design, manufacture and distribute market leading workwear, safety wear and PPE in fully owned production facilities.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

To become the Health, Safety and Compliance Manager you will need:

  • 7 years in a H&S, Compliance or Quality management role
  • Experience working in a distribution environment to the scale of 150 staff
  • Relevant qualification in Health and Safety, NEBOSH, BSC or similar is essential
  • Ability to conduct site safety audits and ensure compliance with ISO/BSI standards
  • Senior management team experience with strong communication skills

Responsibilities:

As the Health, Safety and Compliance Manager you will be a key member of the site’s senior management team offering guidance on best practice health, safety and compliance matters. Among your key responsibilities will include:

  • Advise the management team on H&S and compliance related matters
  • Implement practical and preventative measures to promote health, safety, welfare and compliance on site
  • Establish a set of H&S and compliance KPI’s that can be reported on monthly to the senior management team with action plans for improvements
  • Manage the office area H&S environment and conduct regular and annual reviews on areas such as DSE assessments etc.
  • Elect and set up an internal H&S committee to meet monthly to review KPI’s and compliance
  • Act as the main “go to” person for our other global sites in relation to H&S and compliance matters
  • Conduct relevant H&S and compliance training as required
  • Ensure the site retains ISO 9001/14001 and BSI certifications
  • Management of the sites Quality Management System and ensure this is communicated , updated and reviewed on a regular basis
  • Implement best practice measures across our other distribution and manufacturing sites globally on an ad hoc basis
