SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Demonstrated experience in interpretation and application of the principles of WHS and Workers’ Compensation legislation and regulations and Codes of Practice
- Practical experience in design, implementation and monitoring of WHS and Wellbeing strategies and initiatives to positively influence and drive outcomes across an organisation
- Demonstrated experience in strategic management to achieve work, health and safety outcomes and promote a positive safety culture
- Demonstrated experience conducting incident investigations, risk assessments and identifying effective controls and solutions
- Experience working with Regulators, Authorities and other Governing Bodies
- Exceptional oral and written communication, interpersonal and consultation skills with the ability to build strong working relationships with stakeholders
- Excellent negotiation skills, strong problem-solving capability and be highly personable with a strong focus on the overall safety for the organisation
- Excellent organisational skills and demonstrated ability to effectively manage time in order to prioritise competing demands
- Current Mental Health First Aid Certification
- Hold a minimum Cert IV in Work Health and Safety, show a working knowledge of current WHS legislation and regulations across Australia and have experience in developing and implementing Health and Safety Systems.
- Cert IV in Assessment and Workplace Training would be desirable
Responsibilities:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintaining incident reporting system, compiling statistics and developing H&S reports for the business and external stakeholders
- Completing site audits and risk assessments, incident investigations and reporting on corrective and preventative controls and solutions to reduce risk, and ensure compliance to WHS systems and processes
- Maintaining the health & safety framework, documented policies and procedures to achieve a safe and injury free workplace
- Ensuring successful operations of site safety committees
- Arrange ‘Return to Work’ Plans for injured workers (work and non-work related) in consultation with injured parties, supervisor, team leaders, external stakeholders, insurers, and medical practitioners.
- Overseeing Workers Compensation insurance policies and renewals.
- Provide lead to People & Culture Advisors on Worker’s Compensation claim management and other operational elements of health & safety
- Maintenance of wellbeing and mental health management strategies, supported by operational activities and initiatives
- Provide timely, professional, strategic, and comprehensive advice to senior management on workplace safety and governance data and trends, including the impact of changes in legislation and/or regulation.
