ABOUT OUR OPPORTUNITY

We’re looking for two Health and Safety Business Partners to join our team and contribute to the development and continuous improvement of a proactive safety culture across Council.
You will champion all things safety and wellbeing for team members and coach, support and develop leaders and team members to ensure we continue to improve culture that will make a difference to how work is done.
One of these roles will be working with our community facing and office based team members, and the other focused on our operational workforce.

As a Health and Safety Business Partner and member of the Wellbeing and Safety team you will:

  • Develop quality working relationships with leaders and team members in your portfolio, quickly establishing yourself as a trusted source for safety advice.
  • Assist in undertaking end to end investigations as required, and deliver on Corrective Actions that may include developing Safety Alerts, researching and sourcing alternative controls, and promoting the Hierarchy of Controls.
  • Support the leaders in risk assessment and hazard identification, and in implementing, monitoring and reviewing Safety Improvement Plans and Safety Risk Profiles.
  • Attend and support with working groups, safety committee meetings, toolbox talks, etc, and monitor and report on actions.
  • Provide insight into trends on health and safety challenges to to the leadership team to inform future initiatives.
  • Role model behaviours that foster a culture of psychological safety, trust, open communication and learning that drives a constructive culture.

ABOUT YOU

You’ll be curious and passionate about all things safety, getting out and about to meet people and learn first-hand what the operational risks and challenges are in their job.
You’ll have experience in health and safety partnering, providing support and advice to internal clients and senior leaders to foster a culture of psychological safety, trust, open communication and learning that drives a constructive culture.
You will bring knowledge in managing health and safety matters and investigations, the ability to use empathy and discretion when required, and have a customer-centric approach to drive positive change.
