Description
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Health and Safety Coordinator to join our rapidly growing team. You would be an advisor, resource and expert in Health and Safety for the Company’s divisions throughout Vancouver Island. This position may be based in Victoria or Nanaimo, BC.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Human Resources and managers to oversee the onboarding of all new employees.
  • Ensure adherence to Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
  • Maintain all Health and Safety files for employees and equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with the National Safety Code
  • Scheduling and documenting safety meetings on a regular basis.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources on scheduling and developing training programs.
  • Ensure all accident and incident reporting is completed and processed as required.
  • Be the point of contact for all health and safety knowledge and questions.
  • Submit and manage Worksafe BC claims, including being the primary contact.
  • Developing and coordinating Graduated Return to Work plans
  • Visit job sites to monitor compliance and advice.
  • Coordinate drug and alcohol testing as required.

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years experience in a Health and Safety Coordinator role.
  • Minimum valid OFA Level 2 First Aid
  • Ability to write and complete reports.
  • Advanced knowledge of Worksafe BC regulations and policies.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in managing Graduated Return to Work plans.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.
  • Self-motivated with a results-driven mindset.
  • Strong team player.
