Would you like the Opportunity to start your career in Health & Safety in a dynamic, safety-focused manufacturing environment? Working closely with our site Health & Safety Manager this is a 9 month contract which will give the successful candidate the opportunity to actively participate in a broad range of Cup Print health and safety activities across our site.

Key roles and responsibilities:

  • Assist in day-to-day management of Health & Safety Environmental systems and standards at Cup Print. Assist with coordination and oversight of effective control of contractors while on site. Assist in developing, implementing and monitoring Occupational Health and Safety Policy, Programs, and Procedures. Assist in compliance with current health and safety legislation and/or regulations with the objective of ensuring that all reasonable and proper measures are taken to protect the safety and health of staff and visitors.
  • Auditing & Monitoring - Conduct, as necessary, Health Safety & Environmental audits throughout the site. Ensure adequate monitoring of safety risks throughout operations e.g. chemicals, hazardous environments, ergonomics, mechanical, electrical and others as they arise. Ensure assigned corrective actions are implemented in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Coordination & Communication on H&S issues - Assist with increasing health and safety awareness at all levels within the organization. Develop and deliver information and training to staff in core safety subjects. Coordinate the training of personnel in areas of safety, including first aid, CPR, chemical handling, manual handling, forklift training etc. Participate in communication to management & staff of key HSE related issues. Respond to employees’ safety concerns.
  • Incident Planning & Response – Participate in investigating and reporting on all accidents and incidents- Root cause analysis. Assist in Emergency Response planning and activities.
  • Resource Management - Source and maintain adequate stock of appropriate PPE for staff. Update and maintain asset manager database for equipment for the site and ensure that all plant and equipment is compliant with statutory requirements.

Skills & Experience

Suitable candidates will have:

  • A qualification in occupational health and safety and/or environmental science at either completion or final stage. 4th Year College placement candidates will be considered where placement can commence in June 2024.
  • Ideally experience of working in a manufacturing environment with knowledge of manufacturing processes, systems and procedures but this is not essential
  • Good planning and coordination skills
  • Well-developed communication skills
  • Problem solving mindset
