Today, Africa is a predominantly beer region, and we will continue to growth beer fast. We also recognise an even greater opportunity in spirits and recently reorganised our business to put focus on redefining and accelerating spirits to double its current revenue through the SWC organisation.

Market Complexity: The region covers 31 countries across Central and West Africa. It leads a full TBA portfolio: beer, RTD’s (Ready-To-Drinks), local spirits, international spirits and top end luxury spirits.
The countries’ economies vary significantly and present different levels of opportunity and challenge for business growth as well as language diversity. There is a high level of volatility across the countries and steadfast competition within the beer and spirits portfolio given Africa has the largest vibrant and growing LPA -34 consumer base.
In Diageo Africa context, the margin profile is attractive, with a higher focus on spirits and outsourcing of beer manufacturing. Our extensive and thrilling brand portfolio serves consumers across diverse demographics and delivers against consumers’ in-culture Premiumization experiences.

Purpose of Role
Demand Health and Safety specialist to support office health and safety requirements in Nigeria and drive demand Health and Safety awareness and compliance in West and Central Africa especially passionate about Event planning and execution.
The H&S Specialist will work with the wider West and Central team to develop awareness of health and safety requirements and to lead proactive activities. · Promote Safety, Health campaigns

Role Accountabilities

  • Implementation of Policies and Procedures: Drive and implement corporate health, safety policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with Diageo standards.
  • Assess all demand event plans to ensure outstanding planning for health and safety management
  • Ensure use of Enablon app for reporting of all H&S risks in the region and follow up on actions
  • Ensure all new employees in all locations are inducted to H&S standards and are set up to work with zero harm
  • Develop the art of safety in West and Central Africa
  • For Nigeria: Legislative Compliance: Interpret Nigerian H&S legislation and provide advice to the workforce accordingly, ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Work with global health and safety teams to roll out all new initiatives

Qualifications, Experience, and leadership

  • Specialist qualification in Occupational Health and Safety,
  • Experience with Enablon H&S app and Diageo standards
  • Strong communication expertise
  • Strong risk management experience
  • Highly desirable, able to speak French
  • Analytical ability: To be able to calculate HSE Key Performance Indicators
