JOB DESCRIPTION

The work of a Health and Safety Officer consists of 50% administrative work and 50% field work.

• Assist and advise installation, service and / or operational managers with the completion of hazard identification, risk (management) assessments & method statements as required
• Assist and advise management in the planning, implementation, monitoring and reviewing of ENERCON H&S ‘standards’ / local management systems
• Work with the local management to satisfy the needs of customers
• Travel to ENERCON locations / sites and customer premises throughout the country to ensure national / ENERCON H&S ‘standards’ are being complied with
• Conduct location / site visits and inspections as per annual, local H&S (action) plans / local work schedules / as required
• Support the local management in ensuring compliance with country laws and legislation
• Investigate & report incidents to the reporting chain and the relevant national authorities (where applicable) who must be informed
• Assist and advise the local management in any perceived failings in any H&S ‘standards’ and / or management systems
• Assist and advise the local management on failings of employees and provide written reports when required
• Assist in creating H&S minutes of meeting (MOM) for management
• Promote H&S using H&S and local ‘safety-creating’ awareness programmes and initiatives
• Ensure regular (progress) communication with the H&S manager / regional H&S manager for all matters related to H&S for their country
• Ensure monthly reports are completed and distributed to the service managers and H&S
• Ensure a hand-over / take-over (HO/TO) of work has taken place and local management and the H&S chain of communication are fully informed prior to any absence
• Liaise with other functions / departements within ENERCON services Belgium as well as any HSE consultancies (if applicable) to ensure compliance with national H&S laws and legislation / ENERCON standards
• Development of existing policies and procedures when necessary and in line with national H&S laws and legislation / ENERCON standards
• Complete approved written procedures for customer compliance as and when required
• Work with other international functions as required ensuring ENERCON H&S ‘standards’ are being met and promoted
• If the requirement has been forseen, cooperate with H&S colleagues in other countries on H&S matters
• Participate in specific training so the HSO can competently fulfill their roles, responsibilities and obligations

QUALIFICATIONS AND PROFILE

• You have good verbal and written knowledge of Dutch, English and French
• You must be able to work with both blue-, and white collar staff
• You must have a strong interest in HSE
• You are comfortable with heights
• You have a problem-solving mindset and sense of responsibility
• You have a positive, pro-active approach to work in a team, along with excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
• Experience in a similar function is a strong advantage but not a requirement
• Flexibility and highly mobility required – willingness to travel across the country to meet the companies requirement
• An H&S Officer needs to have knowledge of Belgian Legislation
• An H&S Officer will bring the necessary technical skills (WEC related) to the H&S department
